Biden to withdraw all troops from Afghanistan by 9/11/21

Aside from mass casualties, how could the situation this week have been much worse? We literally don't know how many Americans are over there and are having to remobilize to secure the airport to facilitate getting those unknown numbers out. Short of massive loss of life, this is the worst case scenario.

You said it, few American deaths so far. How about if our embassy staff were trapped in a besieged embassy instead of the airport waiting on flights, like the Iran hostage crisis in the 70's. What if the Taliban was beheading Americans in the streets like we saw years ago....plenty of bad shit could have gone down that, so far has not.

You make a habit of producing counter evidence that's either unrelated or actually works against your point. A poll asking someone their opinion on something doesn't mean either opinion means they care about the topic. If I ask you about your favorite Afghan dish and you respond, it doesn't mean you cared about Afghan food until I mentioned it.

And even if you are defining caring about Afghanistan as wanting the US to stay, those links show that Americans stopped carrying about Afghanistan until the day leaving looked bad.

Go back to the bubble of people exactly like you who think you're smart.

If we are going to Monday morning QB this, how could it have been much better (other than keeping forces there to continue to prop up a government that was corrupt and lacked the support of the people, continue to lose lives of U.S. forces and continue to exhaust resources)? There is no "good way" to end a war. This always was going to end with chaos as the Taliban took over.

Exactly. The takeover by the Taliban has, in large part, been fairly clean. No Americans are dying. No Americans are being captured. The Afghan military just did the "ole" defense and basically let them in.

You can criticize Biden for agreeing to follow through on Trump's agreement with the Taliban instead of re-negotiating an agreement with the Taliban AND the Afghan gov't at the table. But that would have ultimately resulted in the US staying on even longer to help secure the Afghan gov't, in other words, what we've already been doing for 20 years.

Biden made his announcement in April that the US would be out by 9/11. There was warning to people and a gradual removal of troops.

This is a bizarre intersection of foreign policy where both Trump and Biden were correct.

You are the Lebron James of self-unawareness.

Your theory is that the President of the United States cut short his vacation to give a national press conference because..."nobody cares"?

There’s a difference between really caring and political caring because the people that tell you what to care about have told you (manipulated) to “care”. This is very much a problem on both sides but Republicans really take it to another level.

Before Sunday, your only post as WokeandBroke that mentioned "Afghan" or "Afghanistan" was trolling Biff. Doesn't seem like someone who cares beyond politics.

I don't understand, why would a utopia like Cuba need any stabilizing?

Good read.

White Feminists Wanted to Invade

Afghan women never asked for US air strikes.

————

The belief that white women knew what’s best for Afghan women goes deeper than Hollywood and political posturing. The hundreds of millions in development aid that the United States poured into its savior-industrial complex relied on second-wave feminists’ assumption that women’s liberation was the automatic consequence of women’s participation in a capitalist economy. One of the most expensive development programs that Americans brought to Afghanistan was PROMOTE, which cost $418 million and was intended to provide 75,000 Afghan women with training, internships, and jobs. When the program was audited in 2016, it was almost impossible to trace where all the money had gone. The influx of cash wasn’t just wasted; it helped kill Indigenous feminisms that might have worked to achieve more culturally relevant goals. The aid economy meant that Afghan women activists abandoned their own programs and rushed to American ones.

White feminism’s refusal to disaggregate whiteness—and its colonialist and oppressive associations—from feminism meant that the blueprint for empowerment was acting, by and large, like white women. The result was that those opposing the US presence saw authenticity in rejecting all that came via white feminism, which helped discredit all feminist ideas.

White feminism is a trickle-down feminism, and Afghan women are not the only ones it condescends to; Black women, Latina women, Asian women, and other women of color have trouble gaining entry into policy-making circles because their experiences of being a feminist, surviving as a single mother, working on a factory floor, or enduring years of racial discrimination are considered irrelevant. Those roles go to elite white women who have climbed the ladder, nudging out the very women they allegedly wish to help.

[Jeselnik Voice] If Michael Jordan and LeBron James had a baby, and Bill Gates personally performed a Find/Replace search on that baby replacing all instances of "basketball ability" with "self-unawareness", and Oprah Winfrey recommended a book about how that baby's self unawareness caused her to lose 15 pounds without diet and exercise, and then Kim Kardashian posted an Instagram story about how the book about that baby's self-unawareness would cause you to be popular in high school, you would still be more famous for self-unawarness than that baby. [/Jeselnik voice]

This.

And this is why no one should ever take a GQP member's opinions seriously. Just let the JHs, Anuses, and Sailors of the world talk to the air -- their opinion should carry zero weight.

So this Shoo fellow declares intellectual victory over his domestic political opponents in the name of Joseph Biden because of *checks notes* Biden's handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal, on the day that Joe Biden's approval rating hit an all-time low, in career that spans 50 years and includes an extended, public friendship with a Klansman.

THIS was the day that Shoo declared victory.

With wins like this one, who needs defeat?

We're about the same age, although I admit it is hard to tell from looking at each of us.

Good read.

Damn white women thinking Afghan women wanted to read and not be stoned to death because they were raped.

Fucking whites are the worst.

Trump full on campaigning for about 30 minutes straight on Hannity

Note, dipshit, that in the post I said "this" about included: "None of that excuses the naivety or ignorance of the administration's exit strategy. It's a failure to this point by any measure. "

This is the reason no one should listen to a thing you say. If you had even a semblance of a sense of humor, you'd be at the low end of tolerable. But you're the opposite of funny.

Well in that case the President picked an interesting time to start listening to his advisors this week.

It’s the Afghan people who are being hurt by this. Address them. Americans stopped caring about Afghanistan years ago except for political gotchas and financial enrichment.

Meanwhile, outside the delusional bubble of Tunnels Tomfuckery, we're getting a clearer picture of just how badly this was handled.

A selection of JHMD one-liners from this thread. If you hadn't noticed, this is how he concludes 90% of his posts, most of them sarcastic and unfunny. it is rhetorically exhausting.

You keep using that word...

How was the vacation, Mr. President?

This is indefensible.

Jimmy Carter wouldn't have done this.

I think Baron Trump would have done a better job than this.

Please don't defend this.

That's the only important thing right now.

Incomprehensibly stupid.

Disappointing even by low standards.

I skipped a bunch so feel free to post your favorites
