Do You Live In A Political Bubble?

What’s the ideological struggle? Remind me what else Republicans disagree with Cheney on, seems like she’s a pretty straightforward party member.

I mean over Trumpism as a platform. If the Pubs decide to look past skyrocketing unemployment, violent crime, inflation and gas prices and decide to run on relitigating the 2020 election they'll deserve to lose. I still think Trumpism fades, but not as quickly as it came on. If I'm wrong, I trust you guys will tell me.

FWIW, "The survey, which polled nearly 2,000 registered voters over the weekend, found that half of those who identified as Republican or “leans Republican” supported House Republicans voting to remove Cheney, while just 19 percent said she should remain in her post."

I think this is foolish, as stated, and while 50% is too high and 19% is too low, 50% is not a clear majority. It is half. There's an ideological struggle going on but the 50% polled who didn't support her ouster aren't outliers; that's the other half.

They are outliers. The GOP knows that they can't win without the Trumpublicans. They also know that the other 50% will still vote Republican. Therefore, they cater to the fickle Trumpublicans.

They've proven they can lose with them, though. A lot.

Yes. Seems like a great time to double down on Trumpism.

Trumpism was a chemical reaction. You have your run of the mill Pubs (the Cheneys, Bushes, McCains, Romneys, etc.). Add to that a large portion of rust belters [the where is more important than the who or how many) that used to vote Dems who got passed over by Dem policies, and enter this character who promised to restore their jobs and listen to their grievances. The Pubs biggest problem is that, BOOM, the experiment worked and in so doing took down the twice-inevitable candidate that the media anointed. It is fool's gold because you chase away the old guard in the process. It's like the beginning gambler who wins his or her first time out. If the 2022 Republican party chases that old win, look out. Fittingly in this example, the casino will win the end. The salvage job begins with the old guard lowering themselves (in their own mind) to give Trump's appeal to the Trump base without the poisonous side effects. If they can crack the Trump message ("We actually care and we don't hate you like the Democrats do") without the Trump packaging, they've got a chance. If not, they'll be in the minority for a generation (or until the Dems f it up worse; as usual).

That’s a pretty generous and yada yada’ed view of just how painful and terrible the GOP has gotten and will get when they lose elections on a wider scale. We’ve already seen what they’ll drive their supporters to do. You know what Fox is continuing to tell them. They’ll kill the country before they simply lose elections.

“We actually care and we don’t hate you” yet we think so little of you that we will not be honest with you. In fact, we find it to be a political liability to tell you the truth.

Does your party meet that standard? Not according to them.

Good one RJ.

Does it not trouble you that because their policies are so unpopular they chose to make a deal with the devil rather than change? Not from a winning elections perspective but just from a “doing the right thing” standpoint? These are the people you choose to align with?

Without any good policies, Republicans response to losing the last election is to rig the system through voter suppression and gerrymandering.

How much money do you and dad-dad give to the GOP again?

Lulz - Sorry for overlooking this gem.

Can't speak for the old man but the answer for me is $0.

The obsession a number of Tunnels' posters have wrt my family is disturbing. Get a fucking life.

I don’t give a shit about your family, you just seem like a trust funder and I think it’s funny to rag on that.

They believe that reversing the trade deals, stabilizing the labor market by enforcing immigration rules and putting their country first IS the right thing to do. You obviously have different opinions. They know what the Dems stand for and decided after about a generation of voting for Dems to stop. Don't they have the right? Why is the burden on them to explain their reasoning to you?

It seems like some people on here desperately want to rehabilitate conservatism, or republicans.

Sigh

Yeah those Ohioans and Pennsylvanians really wanted UHC and gun restrictions and expanded safety net and environmental regs but the democrats just couldn’t get it done because something something myth something

Or maybe they noticed when all the factories that they used to work at closed. It could be that.

Sorry to spoil the narrative but you are wrong (yet again which is your calling card) if you believe I'm a trust funder.

Thanks Reaganomics! I'm sure the money made by corporations who moved out of town is going to trickle down into their pockets anytime now.
