Banning Critical Race Theory

How many of these books are actually used in public schools as opposed to higher education? One book even says "Critical Race Theory in Higher Education." Furthermore, is there any sign that CRT is being implemented in a widespread or systematic way into public schools - or to be more precise, is there any evidence that what GOP politicians claim they're banning is being taught in public schools?

The j-boys are up at arms about a few books with CRT in the title. But they still contend the OK law isn't outlawing CRT.

There are so many bullshit textbooks published that nobody ever reads. Is there any proof that any of these books are ubiquitous or even appear in any state's education system?

Btw three of those books were published 2015 or earlier.

What's wrong with CRT?

Ah yes... the Tunnels has now evolved from:

"CRT is just a conservative boogeyman (like Antifa or crimes at BLM "protests") that doesn't exist. Nobody is actually teaching it"

to

"OK - so it's being taught but only in a few places. It's not SYSTEMIC or WIDESPREAD and there is no proof anyone uses those textbooks!! So what's the big deal???"

to the inevitable

"What's the problem with it being taught in schools? Why are whites such snowflakes?"

PROVE TO US THAT THEY ARE NOT BEING USED!!!1!

By your own admission the only thing you know is to not mess with one or two random ass historical societies. Probably best to take some Prozac and sit this one out, Brick.

No, what's actually happened here is that conservatives have moved from "these laws as written won't get anyone into trouble, it's all a big liberal nothingburger, we're not really opposed to just teaching about racism in America" to "yes, CRT is being taught in schools on a widespread scale even though we've only been able to find a tiny number of maybe examples, thus these laws are necessary" (even though GOP politicians have been caught repeatedly not knowing what they're actually talking about), to their Dear Leader Donald J. Trump (or the right-winger who wrote it for him) just admitting in an article that all this is about much more than just CRT and could be used to implement right-wing ideology (1776 Project) into schools, have students spy on teachers via recording their lessons, and just fire teachers that teach anything that right-wing school boards deem "radical", "leftist", "anti-American", "America hating", etc. That's what has "evolved" here.

Do people on this thread honestly think that the concepts of "systemic racism" and "white privilege," for example, are not being taught in our schools?

They're being taught in schools and Republicans want to outlaw teaching them.

Do your laws ban those concepts?

See how easy that was, everyone?

I'm glad we can at least move beyond this silly objection by some of your colleagues.

do you think that critical race theory just boils down to "systemic racism" and "white privilege"? That is some real conservative media brain rot at play

LOL. But that is not necessarily CRT, and it certainly doesn't mean what you seem to think. You said that you were in favor of teaching about racism and its effects in schools. How would you define the simple and pretty much universally accepted fact that whites have been at the very top of the social, economic, and political totem pole since the founding of this nation? Or do you actually disagree with that? What would you call it - is it not "white privilege" by any stretch of the imagination? That doesn't mean that CRT - or whatever you think it is - is actually being implemented into school curriculums and being "indoctrinated" into classrooms. What you've been defending are all of these state laws banning CRT, and neither you nor anyone else has shown that those items being banned are being taught in schools on a widespread basis. You're moving the goalposts and trying to argue that non-CRT topics are being taught, when in fact those topics would fit into any decent Social Studies lesson plan, unless you believe they don't exist. You're really telling on yourself here as to what you're actually thinking.

When I was in law school, it was a fringe theory that everyone thought was blatant nutbaggery. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought it would become so mainstream that its concepts were being taught in K-12 schools.

Of course not. It's much more dangerous than that, but those concepts are part of its teaching.

Nah, it's still a boogeyman as being tilted at by your heroes.
