2021-22 Men's Basketball Schedule

I'm just going to put this here. No comment really, just information for my ogboards friends. This comes from a press release today.

Deposits for Basketball Memberships are Now Open
Come join the Demon Deacons men’s and women’s basketball programs at LJVM Coliseum for an exciting home season.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The time has come Deacon Nation! Deposits for 2021-22 Wake Forest basketball memberships are now being accepted.

There is no better time to be at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Membership deposits are set at $50 for men's basketball and $15 for women's basketball.

Fans can visit GoDeacs.com/tickets to make their deposit online, or call the Wake Forest Ticket Office at 336-758-3322 ext. 1.

"Wake Forest Athletics is excited to bring the Winston-Salem and Wake Forest community back together in the Joel for the excitement of Atlantic Coast Conference men's and women's basketball," director of athletics John Currie said. "In our pursuit to provide the Best Fan Experience in North Carolina, we are excited to introduce innovative, flexible and value-added options to cheer on Coach Steve Forbes and Coach Jen Hoover's Demon Deacons during the 2021-22 season. The FLEX ticket membership is a brand new, fan-friendly option providing fans customizable options to optimize their visits to Joel Coliseum."

Jen Hoover and the Deacs return a plethora of key contributors from the 2021 NCAA Tournament Team including ACC All-Freshman Team selection Jewel Spear and veteran forward Christina Morra.

After reaching the ACC Tournament Quarterfinals for the second consecutive season, Wake Forest made history as the Demon Deacons were selected to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 31 years, earning a No. 9 seed in the tournament.

Steve Forbes returns three starters from the 2020-21 squad and has welcomed nine newcomers for the upcoming season.

Seniors Isaiah Mucius and Daivien Williamson are the only two Deacs who played in every contest last season. The veteran duo will lead the fresh-faced team through year two of the Forbes era.

The men's basketball ticket model has evolved into three easy options. Demon Deacon fans can now choose from either a full, half or quarter season ticket membership. Within those packages, fans may choose to go with a "FLEX" pass option or a more traditional season ticket membership.

Introducing FLEX, a New Way to Cheer on Men's Basketball
New this season is the "FLEX" Season Ticket Membership for Wake Forest Men's Basketball. This new ticket experience provides the ultimate fan-focused flexibility and pricing.

Once the number of admissions has been selected - Full Season: 19 Admissions, Half Season: Nine Admissions or Quarter Season: Five Admissions - members may use the tickets as they desire for the games that best fit their schedule.

FLEX season ticket members will simply open their digital FLEX account, and add or remove games as they decide which dates they are able to attend.

Members may even use multiple admissions for a single game to bring a friend, family member or guest with them (some restrictions apply). If more admissions are needed, additional admissions may be purchased within the FLEX account.

The biggest difference between the FLEX ticket package and the traditional season ticket package is seat locations will be assigned closer to the date of each game based upon availability, and not at the start of the season. Seat locations will vary on a game-by-game basis with the FLEX model.

In an effort to provide added flexibility for Deacon Nation and the Best Fan Experience in North Carolina, three FLEX membership options are available:
Full Season Ticket Membership - $199
Includes 19 Total Admissions for All Home Games, to Be Used as Desired
Ticket Redemption System - Member Can Self-Select Games Throughout Season
Seats Assigned Prior to Game Day
Half Season Ticket Membership - $129
Includes Nine Admissions to Be Used as Desired
Ticket Redemption System - Member Can Self-Select Games Throughout Season
Seats Assigned Prior to Game Day
Quarter Season Ticket Membership - $99
Includes Five Admissions to Be Used as Desired
Ticket Redemption System - Member Can Self-Select Games Throughout Season
Seats Assigned Prior to Game Day
Traditional Season Ticket Memberships for Men's Basketball
For Demon Deacon fans who desire a more traditional season ticket, the same three package options are available as a Full Season, Half Season or Quarter Season membership.

This traditional season ticket membership allows Demon Deacon fans to receive the same seat location for each game they attend and have their seats assigned on priority. Current Deacon Club members who purchase a Full-Season ticket membership will also have the opportunity to participate in the seat selection process later this fall.
Full Season Ticket Pricing - Upper Level Starting at $150, Lower Level Starting at $619
Half Season Ticket Pricing - Upper Level Starting at $125, Lower Level Starting at $400
Quarter Season Ticket Pricing - Upper Level Starting at $100, Lower Level Starting at $300
Traditional Season Ticket Memberships for Women's Basketball
Traditional full season ticket membership packages are available to support the Wake Forest Women's Basketball program. Full Season Ticket Memberships will be $39 for Adult and $19 for Youth and Senior (Ages 65+). Deposits are now available for $15 to lock in your season order.

Continued Ticket Purchase Assurance Plan
The Ticket Purchase Assurance Program continues in 2021 to provide the Best Fan Experience in North Carolina for all fans. If for some reason any portion of the 202-2022 schedule does not take place or if capacity restrictions change throughout the season due to COVID-19 health and safety guidelines, ticket holders who purchased directly through Wake Forest will continue to have their tickets protected with the TPA program.
Important Upcoming Dates:
August 13 - Men's Basketball opt-in deadline to participate in the Deacon Club seat selection for traditional season memberships
September 6 - Deacon Club seat selection process begins for traditional men's basketball season memberships

The OOC schedule is out: https://godeacs.com/news/2021/8/11/mens-basketball-wake-forest-announces-non-conference-schedule-for-2021-22.aspx

2021 KP rating in parens:

Wed. Nov. 10 William & Mary (#302) Winston-Salem, N.C.
Fri. Nov. 12 Western Carolina (#241) Winston-Salem, N.C.
Wed. Nov. 17 Charleston Southern (#339) Winston-Salem, N.C.
Sat. Nov. 20 North Carolina A&T (#283) Winston-Salem, N.C.
Tues. Nov. 23 Kennesaw State (#335) Winston-Salem, N.C.
Fri. Nov. 26 Oregon State (#43) - Emerald Coast Classic Destin, Fla.
Sat. Nov. 27 Penn State (#40)/LSU (#24)- Emerald Coast Classic Destin, Fla.
Tues. Nov. 30 Northwestern (#79) - ACC/Big Ten Challenge Winston-Salem, N.C.
Sat. Dec. 11 USC Upstate (#322) Winston-Salem, N.C.
Tues. Dec. 14 VMI (#153) Winston-Salem, N.C.
Fri. Dec. 17 UNC Charlotte (#234) - Hall of Fame Shootout Charlotte, N.C.

WF's scheduling strategy: play competitive teams in the Emerald Coast Tourney, and in the Big 10 Challenge; then, fill out the rest of the schedule with what should be non-competitive teams that will play a road guarantee game. WF needs to go 10-2 against this OOC slate to have an outside chance of being on the bubble, and the only wins that would help the resume will be in the Emerald Coast and against NW, assuming that aren't the worst team in the Big 10 in 2022. Also, Charleston Southern, USC Upstate and Kennesaw State were among the most pathetic teams to play basketball in 2021. They are awful.

It's only 11 games, right?

Confused because Pilchard says we'd need to go 10-2... When I added it up, my first thought was that we better go at least 10-1 (if not 11-0).

The Emerald Coast classic is the only difficult game(s), and you'd think we'd go at least 1-1 there. Win day one, lost day two or vice versa. I mean, ideally you win them both.

Not a single true road game on that schedule. Emerald Coast Classic is in Forbes's old gym and UNCC is at the Spectrum Center.

Terrible schedule, but the ACC portion will obviously be no picnic. But zero reason we shouldn't be >.500 this year overall.

Conference schedule not out yet, but we know the breakdown:

Home: Duke, NC State, Florida State, Louisville, Miami, Syracuse, Boston College, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Pitt
Road: Duke, NC State, Florida State, Louisville, Miami, Syracuse, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Virginia Tech

Couple that w/ the non-conference and I come up with the following for the regular season (not including ACC Tourney)

Floor: 14-17 (5-15 ACC)
Base Case: 17-14 (7-13 ACC) - If we don't do at least this well, I will be disappointed.
Upside: 23-8 (12-8 ACC) - Sweep the non-conference and win some in the ACC that aren't expected.

Best guess... Which is pretty much worthless in August:
19-12 (9-11 ACC)

Yes, 11 OOC games. The Deacs' scheduling strategy is to have a winning season, which is understandable, given the last decade of WF basketball. The prevailing thought must be that making any post-season tournament would be considered a success. That said, the schedule isn't going to raise the WF profile outside of the few that follow every WF basketball game regardless of the opponent. No one is going to be aware that WF is playing basketball until the ACC games start.

Sweeping that non-conference schedule will raise a few eyebrows. Especially if LSU is top 25 when Wake plays them. Or Wake could be leading the B1G with a 2-0 record.

Yeah, if nothing else, a hot start would get some positive press and some stories about how Steve Forbes is turning things around at Wake Forest.

Wouldn't hurt with recruiting, either.

Wake will be considered the weakest team at Emerald so 1-1 would be nice. Beavers fresh off a Pac12 tourney title and Elite 8 run.

Duke & UNC tweeted out their schedules 30 minutes and 15 minutes ago.

Nothing from Wake yet.

Small clarification: The season finale is March 2 (not the 3rd).

I like the schedule. It’s a good fit for where the program is right now. All home games to start. A small tournament where we can get a win. One true road noncon in Charlotte in between the 3 ACC road games out of the first four games.

I feel like the team usually gets more of a break at some point around the holidays... I only see three one week "breaks" - 12/4-11, 12/22-29, 1/22-29.

Doesn't bother me, of course. The more often I can watch the Deacs, the better.

I was thinking about going to the Miami game but not if that means spending New Years with my in-laws. Of course, that changes if we pull off the impossible and make the Orange Bowl CFP semi.

First day of classes in January is Monday, 1/10

Meaning minimal students for the home ACC games vs. BC and FSU, and probably not a full student section for 1/8, 2:00 pm vs. Cuse

Students should be good and ready for that Duke game 1/12
