2021 Wake Forest Soccer Thread

Benalcazar MOTM, whole defense did well. Our attack is anemic and has the opportunity to score at least 4 goals a game (and do not capitalize) , but what pissed me off most from this game was that our midfield was nonexistent. I really hope our midfield and attack are able to snap out of this funk because it makes these games so much less exciting. 1-1 final score
 
Playing Liberty U who are on a 4 game win streak tonight (on ACCNX) and then Clemson friday. Gonna be good to see how the team handles this.
 
Stop playing Liberty in everything. It validates them. Oh…and we lost.
 
Tough loss considering The Congregation brought the heat and we had the lead.

We still lack dynamism in the attacking 1/3, and I think it’s too late in the season to expect that to change.
 
Deacs routed W&M last night 4-0. WF stands 5-4-1 on the season and 1-2-1 in the ACC.

Huge game at UNC on Friday (revenge game from last Spring's NCAA Tourney loss). UNC has had some struggles this year too. They stand at 2-2 in the ACC, losing to Pitt and Duke and beating NC State and UVA. Looking like UNC and WF could be NCAA bubble teams and a road victory for WF would pad the WF resume.

Making the tourney is one thing, competing is another. We are no where close to competing.

Will always defer to others when it comes to soccer, but seems like the Deacs have been competitive with the ranked teams they played so far: WF beat Pitt 3-1, and lost late to Clemson 2-1. Based upon my limited understanding of the sport, it seems like this WF team has a high variance of outcomes, meaning that they can compete with the top college teams, but they can also lose to lesser opponents.
 
How the hell is the women’s team not even receiving votes?
 
The Lady Deacs had nice OT win over Miami last night. If they beat VT (at Spry) on Sunday. WF would be 12-2 (4-2) and would have to be ranked. They have had nice season. Jenna Menta transfer from G'town has been a great addition.
 
Men up 1-0 at UNC. Just had a very nice goal with 41 min left.
 
GREAT goal. We have struggled with goals during open play, so maybe we are starting to see some improvement.
 
Wake PK with 2:40 left in regulation.

2-1 Deacs. Just got to finish it out.

Lady Deacs in a tight one with #17 VTech. Deacs earn second penalty of the game with four seconds to go in the first half to go up 3-1.
