Nope, dragged along by the wife for a long weekend. She has friends here and another is coming from SF. Just hit the dispensary so things are happening.

I don’t know exactly who is involved but the large banks especially can be really sensitive to reputational risk even for legal businesses. I know we have a laundry list of prohibited industries. And I’m sure there could be some legal elements as well.

That’s because marijuana is still federally banned. I believe some banking regulations were loosened but they may have been rolled back.

Barca — An example that comes to mind is we won’t touch anything hemp related. No exception. That’s maybe less reputational/more regulatory oversight and compliance but along the same lines.

yeah there are all kinds of weird regs around weed and everything related. for example, my sister in the Coast Guard now lives in Houston and her favorite brewery just announced a THC seltzer. apparently if it's under 0.3% THC it's legal in Texas (and federally?) and thus military regs prohibit you going in any businesses that actively promote THC products. she's pretty bummed about it.
 
The wildest thing is that dispensaries can’t take any Section 162 deductions for ordinary and necessary business expenses because you can’t take deductions for illegal businesses (but the government is still going to tax it).

The commitment to sourcing PG13 material all over the internet snd linking it all here is really something. I have intentionally not clicked on that thread for a couple of years, so for all I know he could be discussing Foucault and postmodernism but I suspect not
