2021 Football Coaching Carousel

Not clear, but USFL will try to carry off the season with 38 man rosters (7 man practice squad). So, money is obviously an issue.

38? They gonna have 2 way players? Can't even fill out 2 deep especially once you account for specialists.

Trying to get through a season with a 38 man roster seems like a disaster waiting to happen. There is a reason why these leagues always fold. The public loves football, but it has the most overhead and recurring expenses of any sport, because it requires a massive roster. Also, generally, the public isn't interested in taking in a product that they know is a massive knock-off of what they are used to. The million dollar tournament is fun and viable because it's one and done, and you can play basketball with a 10 man roster.

Having a 7 man practice squad instead of just a 45 man roster seems like an unnecessary way to control costs. Those 7 will have to play at some point. So what does a 38 man roster look like?

Here’s a guess:

QB 2
RB 3
WR 4
TE 2
OL/LS 8

DL 6
LB 5
CB 4
S 4

K/P 1

I imagine teams will have a RB/WR which could open a spot for separate K and P. Maybe a LB/SS.

If they get rid of kickoffs, that could help cut down on the need for special teamers and lower injuries.

Harbaugh to Vikings. This opens up Michigan. Clawson is on lists floating around and I am actually worried about this one. Gattis could also get the promotion.

Really really really hoping Michigan hires Matt Rhule.

Luiji and Turner need to start recruiting immediately.

...nothing official. Harbaugh hasn't even interviewed yet.

Those of us who are both Panther and Deacon fans have a complete best case/worst case scenario re Michigan. Rhule or Clawson?!!

The silver lining in the cloud that would hit Wake if Clawson left this off season is that with the hype for next season, Currie would be in a much stronger position to get a good replacement than he would be after a 6-7 season or worse.

Currie has shown that he has the chops to make a good hire, if he is allowed to do so. Both at Wake and elsewhere.

Heather Dingbat just said that if Harbaugh leaves, Josh Gattis may have a real shot at job.

Hard to tell if you believe the reporting or just wanted to take a misogynistic cheapshot, or both.

Mack Brown signed an extension and got a raise hahahahaha

It was a 1 year extension. It brings his deal to 5 years so they can tell recruits that he will be their till they graduate. Only done to prevent any negative recruiting by other coaches.

Looks like the Vikings said thanks but no thanks. Seems too quick for Michigan to negotiate a new contract.

Just got an alert the Rams are probably going to hire the Rams OC.
