2021 Football Coaching Carousel

Orgeron could be a potential candidate to replace Clawson at Wake Forest after this season. IIRC Orgeron expressed interest in the Wake Forest job after Grobe was fired.

Could be but won't be. Wake won't have an opening. And if Wake ever does again, the antics Ogeron pulled at LSU wouldn't get past a cursory review at Wake. He got a pass at LSU after the national championship. That behavior would keep him from even getting a phone call from Wake.

There's very little to love about College Station apart from gameday atmosphere, which is easily matched at LSU. The women are ugly, the campus is a flat pancake of boring buildings in the hot Texas sun, and the whole cultish Aggie thing is just weird. The only reason Jimbo has to stay is the $. I don't know how much $ LSU is going to have for a coach after the Coach O buyout.

And yet it's ten time better than Lubbock. "Guns Up" vs "Gig 'em". Which says nothing but how bad Lubbock is.

I've never been to either town, but "Guns up" with finger guns from a "Red Raider" is 10 times better/cooler than a weird "Gig 'em" with an awkward thumbs up from an "Aggie".

Good read on Rolovich’s time in WSU. Seems like a real piece of work.

“In between those two events, Rolovich stood firm in his refusal to receive the vaccine, for reasons that are still unknown. This is where Rolovich’s lesson becomes most instructive.

In order to truly stand for something, you must, well, identify what you’re standing for. Rolovich in July said his reasoning would remain private, a common yet flawed response from the unvaccinated. Rolovich confirmed he applied for a religious exemption from the mandate, even though it’s unknown which religion he claims. With those words alone, Rolovich galvanized a section of the fan and alumni base that proudly applauds his contrarianism.

But what is a contrarian without a cause? What, exactly, does Rolovich stand for?

The only thing worse than being foolish enough to forfeit a job paying upward of $3 million per year is doing so without having the conviction to explain why.”

Dugar: Nick Rolovich’s silence on his Washington State exit shows a lack of guts — and principles https://theathletic.com/2900435/202...ts-and-principles/?source=user_shared_article

Rolovich's attorney has probably advised him to remain silent as they negotiate the settlement or prepare for a lawsuit.

That makes sense now but his silence goes back before the state mandate.

I can list 30 coaches I would prefer over Eddie O.

Clawson is going nowhere.

and...Rolovich did this to himself. He is selfish.

Which is the more attractive opening: USC v. LSU?

LSU. We have little evidence USC can thrive in the current era.

LSU and it's not close. More conference money, better conference, better recruiting. USC hasn't been relevant since Pete Caroll left and, at this point, there's probably enough evidence to call him an outlier in USC's more recent history. Remove Carroll from the history and you need to go back to the 70's for the last time USC was relevant. LSU has won three championships with three different coaches this century.

I completely agree that LSU is the better job, but it's close for a lot of guys, especially if they have west coast ties. USC's biggest problem right now is they aren't keeping recruits at home. A coach can do that is going to have a stacked team against a conference that sucks for the most part.

USC (arguably) plays in the easier division of that conference. Whereas, at LSU you're in the same division currently as Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M, and probably Texas and Oklahoma; with Ole Miss and Arkansas on the rise.

Clay Helton can barely coach and lasted into his seventh season at USC. You're gone in four years tops at LSU if you aren't winning 10 games.

ETA: Helton took over midseason 2015 when Sarkisian was fired. Orgeron was the interim HC when Lane Kiffin was fired and later resigned when Sark was hired.

LSU is a better job, but you can find hot chicks in Los Angeles without having to cruise the gas stations for pregnant women in yoga pants
