Official 2021-22 Bowl Projections Thread - Championship Week

Wake/Ole Miss would short circuit the scoreboard.

How dare you say something that seems patently obvious.

it also seems obvious that if you go win the conference and go to an NY6 bowl, you're going to play a good team who will likely present a challenge

Good lord, Ole Miss gave up 339 more yards this season than we did, but allowed 49 fewer points. They only gave up 27 or more three times this season. Wake did that six times. They also didn't have an OOC opponent light them up for 56.

Doesn’t the Peach Bowl typically sell out of tickets (except school allotments) very early in the year?

Not sure if “who travels well” is that much of a factor for the Peach Bowl compared to other bowls. To go from “good to great,” we’ll have to get used to playing top-tier teams that have put up 10 or more wins.

Peach to Holiday seems like such a big drop. Especially for two very even teams. It’s not like some 6-6 team made the game by four way tiebreaker.

It really does feel like a crappy outcome for the loser of a conference title game between two 10-2 teams. Especially when both are on the completely opposite side of the country.

So, if I understand correctly, we would boycott the Holiday Bowl. Right ?

It used to, when it was guaranteed the NYE primetime slot with a good ACC vs. SEC matchup....now that it is part of the CFP rotation, the tickets offered to their annual buyers got a little worse (since the CFP dictates what allotments are given to the schools), and the tickets got A LOT more expensive, even in non-semifinal years. It will have good attendance in non-semifinal years, but is not the guaranteed sell-out it used to be.

How would ticket prices to the Peach Bowl compare to the championship game?

The most likely opponents I’ve seen are Arizona State and Oregon, the two Pac-12 opponents we’ve faced in bowls over the last 30 years.

The loser of the Pac-12 Championship is likely being sent to the Alamo Bowl.
