Official 2021-22 NBA Offseason Thread - Warriors extend Poole and Wiggins

tatum turned the ball over a bunch, guy on the celtics i've never seen jacked up a couple threes and miami scored at will

also the fellating of pat riley got going with about 3 mins left

i wonder what tyler herro and dewayne dedmon talk about

who the fuck is gabe vincent

Started a bunch of games due to injury and was productive when he played. He was a popular free agent pickup in jaybone's fantasy league. Played well for Team Nigeria when they beat Team USA.

Pat Riley just finds these randos.

biggest issue, outside of Tatum's turnovers and Jaylen disappearing, was Butler hunting for a Pritchard switch pretty much every possession. became obvious in the 3rd exactly how big a dropoff it is on defense from Smart to him. this also came up with some lazy switches on screens that led to loosely contested Strus/Vincent 3s... a lot easier to pnr against the C's without Smart/Horford.

Nesmith was a revelation, though. where the hell has that been from him

and still think the ease with which the C's were able to get into the paint (in three of the quarters, at least) is going to be a factor sooner rather than later

I'm not sure if anyone cares about the points competition anymore, but I didn't see any sub requests for Horford and Smart last night. Gonna give both bmoney and plama Rob Williams as a sub and call it a day if that's OK with folks.

Heat front office deserves mega credit for finding Gabe Vincent and Max Strus. Not only do they start, but they have played a key role in the Heat playoff run. Vincent was undrafted out of Cal Santa Barbara, and the Heat grabbed off the Sacramento Kings G League roster. Strus was undrafted out of DePaul (started in D2), and the Heat grabbed him off the Bulls G League roster (after ironically the Celtics cut him). These are two guys that no team in the league thought were worthy of a draft pick out of college, and any team in the NBA could have signed out of the G League.

Of course they did the same with Duncan Robinson. The Heat probably shouldn’t have paid him and had confidence they could find another one. The Heat also deserve credit for developing and utilizing shooters.

Pretty amazing how buried Duncan Robinson is right now. He doesn't even play when the Heat are up comfortably. The weird thing is that in the Heat playoff opening win over the Hawks, Robinson had 27 points in 23 minutes (went 8 for 9 from 3). Robinson had only gotten garbage minutes after that.

Robinson is an unredeemable disaster on defense, is the issue

Theis and Pritchard pretty good.

Derrick White super soft and those other guys - not good.

Healthy Celtics can take this series.

Of course. That said, you would think that Heat might have weighed the offense versus defense evals before signing Robinson to a $90 million contract extension. When the Heat made their run to the 2020 NBA final in the bubble, Robinson played a huge role on that team. This year, not so much.

oh, yeah, extending him was a dumb decision-- I think they thought after those finals that they would continue to be able to effectively hide him on D, but switch defense has gotten more important than ever these last two years, and you're only as strong as your weakest individual link (see: Pritchard, Payton)
