2021-22 Men's College Basketball Season - UNC v. Kansas for the Natty

Amazing how on this board Manek has gone from goofy white guy to now the main reason UNC will have trouble getting back to the Final Four.

His last 8 games he was around 50% from three. He was shooting over small guys, so a big had to guard him. That meant Bacot was 1 on 1 a lot. When Wake played and beat them, Manek was still playing more inside, plus Wake had two guys (Mucius and LaRavia) to guard him and help on Bacot. The other guys were still figuring stuff out. As was Manek. He wasn't the three point shooter early that he became down the stretch.

Everyone remembers that Laravia was eating Manek’s lunch, what we forgot was that Manek was also scoring at will. Pretty sure he scored about 25 in that loss against us, and he sat in the bench for a while.

22 points in 25 minutes. Led the heels in scoring.

A lot of obvious comps to last year UCLA for UNC. They never quite put it together after their deep tourney run the year before, hopefully same will go for the Heels.

Conference def looking stronger next year which is certainly good news for our resume-building chances, whatever the roster ends up being

Dude can be a goofy white guy AND a good college player. They're not mutually exclusive.

Stretch.

The twin component for moderately attractive college-aged female athletes does all the hard work in this equation.

Twins. Fake blondes. Good bodies. Movement and flirtation makes you not notice their average faces, making the average Joe think he has a shot lol. Not a secret equation.

They'd be attractive, but nothing insane if they were regular girls. The fact that they are excellent basketball players makes them hotter.

Most attractive current WBB player though has to be Jaz Shelley.

True, but my point is, UNC has 4 of 5 starters back from an NCAA runnerup team, and folks on here are trying to imply they will have a tough time getting back to the finals b/c of a guy who was basically overlooked until the last month of the season. If Hubert can't more than adequately fill that one missing piece thru recruiting or the transfer portal given UNC's brand name and projected preseason #1, or even just coach around it if there are no replacement options, maybe he won't be there for the long haul after all.

UNC doesn't have any open scholarships, so the transfer portal is out.

I'll be surprised if UNC is elite next year, mainly because I don't believe that Love can be a star over the course of a full season and the holes didn't have any depth this year.

Not implying that UNC will have a tough time "getting back to the finals"; stating it: just because UNC returns 4 starters, the Heels are unlikely to make the same NCAAT run.

The NCAAT is such a crapshoot; this year, one number one seed made the Elite 8. UNC will be in the mix next year along with a dozen other teams. The point is UNC was a middle of the road power conference team for 4 months of the season last year, and then, they put it together for a hot March run. Kudos to Hubert for that and fully acknowledge that WF headed in the opposite direction in March. Those assuming that just because UNC returns 4 of 5 starters that the Heels are going to waltz through next season and cruise to the final game next year may be in for a surprise. Think the same problems that caused UNC to struggle for much of last season will likely arise again. FWIW, UNC can have a much better regular season next year, and still spit up on itself in the tournament -- like 3 of the 4 #1 seeds this year in the NCAAT. There are countless examples of teams returning all or almost of their talent, but just not putting it together the second time around.

Isn’t it fantastic that UNC completely blew a huge lead and lost a sure fire championship. I’m still riding that wave.

Easy guys - JManslow will be along shortly to defend the honor of his adopt-a-mater
