Very little national Print media on this game. The USA Today writer, Michelle R. Martinelli, makes the more important point when she observes that this Hartman offense scored more than 4 points per minute of possession. This offensive performance had to have been the best in the nation yesterday and that is the remarkable point of the game. That is some Martinelli love without a loss of objectivity.

“It’s hard to say we defended anything well today,” Clawson said. “I mean, the plays that we stopped them, those who are more fluke than the plays.

“... It was just we didn’t we didn’t play well. We made uncharacteristic mental mistakes, And that’s part of the offense. But there’s no excuse for how poorly we played. We got to get some things fixed.”

By golly, the biggest critic of the D is our own Coach, and yes, he knows we're 7-0, AND he knows to play better the D has to improve; Clawson is very clearly an optimist too.

But if not Oklahoma, then who?
Wake Forest and Michigan both remained undefeated Saturday, their respective cases for serious consideration getting ever stronger.
For the Wolverines, the game plan has been as simple as a pair of pleated khakis. They beat Northwestern 33-7 behind some stellar defense and 119 yards on the ground from Blake Corum. Michigan hasn't thrown for more than 255 yards in a game this season, but it also hasn't needed to. Jim Harbaugh might be running a vanilla offense, but it's really good vanilla -- like that French vanilla ice cream with sprinkles.
Meanwhile, Wake Forest is 7-0 for just the second time in program history after hanging 70 on Army, despite just 17 minutes, 17 seconds of possession time. That's a point every 14 seconds, a level of cold, cruel efficiency usually reserved for tax audits. Sure, the Wake defense also gave up 56 points, turning the box score into something more like a Cheesecake Factory menu, but this is 2021, and everyone has flaws. At least Wake's flaws are fun.

Two Wake mentions there. Our own Josh Gattis churns out that French vanilla.

1 point every 14 seconds; more than 4 points every minute

Go Deacs!

I won't post them as they are easily found. But if you YouTube "Wake Forest Football" there are quite a few folks starting to talk A LOT about WFU football.
One guy spends 2-3 minutes making the case the Sam Hartman should be in consideration for Heisman.

I will add... the level at which this offense is now starting to run the RPO is becoming almost a thing of beauty.

Defense? As our coach clearly stated, it needs LOTS of work this week.

Prediction: Wake Forest gave up 56 points to Army but won by two touchdowns to move to 7-0, their best start since 1944. This is a dangerous offense led by Sam Hartman, but road trips to UNC, Clemson and Boston College remain, plus a home date with NC State. Winning the ACC Atlantic is within reach, but, including the bowl and a possible ACC title game, I think the Demon Deacons will lose at least three games and end up outside the final top 10. That may be enough for their best poll finish.*

ONLY TIME WF MENTIONED BY N&0 (travesty for an NC news source to cover WF's season this way and it is fact that forces this coverage): https://www.newsobserver.com/sports/article255265766.html

Seems like the only time people think UNC, State, Clemson, and BC are any good is when they’re talking about why Wake will fail.

also a lot of people don't seem to know that the Carolina game is OOC (which makes sense). hard to see 3 losses that don't include that game, which, of course, doesn't affect the division.

I think he’s saying we will lose one of those four games (probably at Clemson), to Pitt in the ACCCG to finish 11-2 and then to a top 10 SEC or Big Ten team in a bowl. That’s plausible.

you're right, I missed that part. was just thinking about 3 losses in the last 5 games.

Or Cincinnati, playing for a faux national championship.

Man I'm gonna be mad if we have a great season and end up playing fucking Cincinnati in a bowl

Playing Cincinnati in a NY6 bowl

Playing Cincinnati in the CFP

well yeah that's ok, just not in the Fiesta Bowl or whatever because let's be honest, the OB opponent of UL was kinda lame and even lamer now that we play them every year

So if we aren't in the CFP, the only NY6 bowls we could go to are the Peach or Fiesta?

Interesting how he alludes to early success in 2019 allowing certain players' selfishness to creep in. Shot at Jamie.

Could be but Dave seems all class and not to take cheap quips at former players- likely just a blanket statement. Couldn’t be Sage- dude broke his arm going after a fumble in VT- reminded me of play Mauk made against Cuse in 2006. Sage made Jamie look so good- he was not the same QB after Sage went down.
