2022 College Basketball Coaching Carousel

Basically LSU has been waiting for the letter to see how bad it was going to be and more importantly, whether they would be able to fire Wade with cause. They got their answer today so they fired him.
They will be in the Tourney this year but I could see a Tourney ban and scholarship limits once the case is actually finished - which could still be 6 months from now. As soon as they knew the allegations included Level I against Wade, which allow him to be fired for cause, they canned him.

I'd also be willing to bet the ultimate punishment will include a multi-year show cause penalty for Wade.

David Cox fired at Rhode Island. Good guy who couldn’t get it done. Stings worse because Providence is so good this year. Losing Fatts Russell hurt. Look for him to end up on Hurley’s staff at UConn.

Right now, seven vacancies at Power Schools:

UGA
LSU
Missouri
Mississippi State
Louisville
Maryland
Kansas State

BTW, can't believe that Pitt is bringing Capel back. He is 21-53 in ACC regular season games at Pitt. He has never finished higher than 11th, and as bad as his record is at Pitt, their future prospects are bad or worse.

You answered your own question. You want to go coach at Pitt over some of those schools?

$15M buyout is the reason for sure.

You can cross UGA off and add UF.

Amazing for UF to rid themselves of White and actually get money from UGA instead of having to pay White’s buyout.

No idea who they’ll hire, but at least they won’t be hampered by paying White.

Just another bizarre basketball head coach hiring decision by the UGA athletic department.
