Ukraine is game to you?

Russia, quit being so greedy. Ya already got the most land in the world, most of it worthless. Why would you want some big literal nuclear wasteland?

It seems clear to me, Putin wants a reason to go in, saying it’s humanitarian, and rush to that population centers, remove suspected dissidents and other undesirables to whatever fate Russia usually uses, get rid of democratically elected officials and install a puppet government like Belorus and then leave and ask for Nobel Peace prize as his reward for not starting general conflagration. He then gets a pro Russian country as a buffer. At least the Baltic states are NATO members otherwise, they are next. And the lights begin to go out once again for Eastern Europe.

Yeah, what about Iraq ?

I mean, if Putin is shrewd, which he is, he could find a way to, at least on paper, justify the invasion of Ukraine the way we justified the invasion of Iraq. It looks like he is trying different avenues to do that. Further he could justify the military occupation and annexation of Ukraine based on our own post Iraq invasion failures. “Annexation is the only way to prevent chaos and terrorism like we saw in post invasion Iraq…” That’s not to say it would be a valid justification or that we should just let him do it, but George W. Bush set an awful precedent.

The CIA needs to get some "employees " from Chechnya to visit Red Square. That would take a little wind out of Putin's sails.

Yeah, proxy terrorist attacks usually help calm things down significantly.

So Russia is doing exactly what the western media has expected of him by conjuring up reasons to send troops into the Ukraine.

Big difference between what’s happened so far and 150 thousand troops marching to Kiev. Could certainly still happen, but this isn’t what was predicted.

Tara Reade called Putin's speech one of the most moving and Powerful speeches in history. shocking that that transparent Russian grifter turned out to be a... Transparent Russian grifter
