I think we just need to accept that all of these coaches are lying to us, including Grobe and Clawson. We also need to look at this as a competitive landscape and adjust our expectations accordingly.

That said, if the ACC added a 9th game and a 4 team playoff, could Phillips renegotiate the ACC TV deal?

LOL. The NBA has 30 teams and 16 make the playoffs.
 
the SEC: to get more deserving teams in the playoff we need to host our own playoff

also the SEC: we can't risk any of our big strong teams missing the playoff, so we need the late season games against Eastern Asshole State A&M

But... what about limiting games for the student athletes? That's why we can't have an 8 team national championship playoff, right?

No. No one serious is saying that anymore. Only morons. Even university presidents with no shot of making a playoff want their share of the CFP money.
