2022 MLB Season Thread

Nats refused to charter a flight for Soto for the HR Derby. That relationship is ending quite poorly.

Sounds like the Padres are getting close to landing Soto.

It’s insane how many star players the Nats have traded away.

Josh Bell to the Padres as well.

Hosmer among the haul in return

Not official yet. Hosmer has to waive his no-trade and has yet to do so.

The Nationals and Padres have agreed to a deal that would send star outfielder Juan Soto and first baseman Josh Bell to San Diego, sources confirmed. Soto, 23, previously rejected a 15-year, $440 million offer from the Nationals.

The Padres agreed to send MacKenzie Gore, C.J. Abrams, Robert Hassell, James Wood and Jarlin Susana to Washington, as well as first baseman Eric Hosmer. The Soto deal will not be official until Hosmer agrees to waive his no-trade stipulation to the Nationals. To this point he has not, according to a source.

Seems like a very light return, especially when they’re taking on Hosmer

Seems like a very light return, especially when they’re taking on Hosmer

You’re likely never to get equivalent value when dealing a superstar like Soto, but this is probably the biggest prospect haul ever landed, judged prospectively

They included Voit instead and shipped Hosmer to Boston.

Whit Merrifield traded to TOR, after missing a series there for not being vaccinated.

Looks like Juan Soto is changing coasts. Washington is trading him and Josh Bell to San Diego for five prospects plus a first baseman.

Whit Merrifield traded to TOR, after missing a series there for not being vaccinated.

What a douche. Said he'd consider getting vaxxed if he were on a team that might make the postseason. Gets traded to the team that leads the AL Wildcard, and requires vaccinations for home games.

Phillies pick up Noah Syndergaard and finally part ways with former number one pick Mickey Moniack.

Chris Sale has a bicycle accident, will miss the rest of the year

Since his current contract started with the 2020 season, Sale will have made $90 million at the end of this season for a total of 14 appearances and 57 1/3 IP

Red Sox get to pay him for at least two more years after this year
