Top Hat Collective

And there was this interesting reply as well.

Damn. Great they opted to stay, but with the money now being thrown around, might be difficult for some to not take it.

That’s awesome that they stayed. But we need to start getting some of these wide receivers drafted as that will further encourage their willingness to stay, whenever Bama comes calling with promises of not only money but exposure. Remaining in the top 20 will help too.

There could have been a counter-offer.

Don't think anything is guaranteed at these programs either with PT vs. place you know you are getting a ton of targets in a top offense as long as you can stay healthy.

Les calls Hartman to Perry a "cheat code." Where else could Perry go and be reasonably expecting 100+ targets next season?

Much as I hate to say it, if JaQuari goes to Alabama and puts up the same numbers he did in his final season at Wake, he probably gets drafted.

But he might not put up those numbers.

Who in the collective decides which players to offer money to and how much they will be getting? Does it get offered after they commit or when the come on campus?

Say we decide 4 stars get more money, but we really need a LB so we are willing to offer some cash to a 3 star we can plug and play sooner? Is that a group discussion or made by certain individuals?

PhDeac and Pilch will do all evaluations and make all personnel decisions

Wake Forest Athletics Launches Official NIL Marketplace For Demon Deacon Student Athletes
In continued collaboration with Opendorse, this opportunity will create opportunities for student-athletes to capitalize on Name, Image and Likeness opportunities through one compliant platform.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest Athletics announced today the creation of the Official DEACTOWN NIL Marketplace for the Demon Deacons, powered through a continuing collaboration with Opendorse that will create avenues for student-athletes to work with fans, alumni, brands and sponsors for NIL activities in one streamlined and compliant platform.

Through the Marketplace, Wake Forest student-athletes are able to engage in promotional and related opportunities from interested third-parties who can browse, propose, book and pay for NIL activities. Student-athletes can review opportunities, accept deals and receive compensation all in one place. Once a deal is completed, the activity is automatically disclosed to ensure compliance. Opendorse is the owner and operator of the platform.

“Wake Forest Athletics is proud of this cutting-edge collaboration with Opendorse which helps us continue to provide a World Class Student-Athlete Experience as our young men and women grow their individual brands while they easily, and compliantly, explore NIL opportunities,” director of athletics John Currie said. “We are proud to be one of the very first schools in the country to launch a branded marketplace for student-athletes, allowing easier access for companies to connect with our outstanding Demon Deacons.”

"Demon Deacon student-athletes will have a leg up heading into the second year of NIL," said Opendorse CEO Blake Lawrence. "Wake Forest's partnership with Opendorse displays a commitment to supporting student-athletes and empowering their financial freedom."

Since 2020, Wake Forest has worked with Opendorse to help student-athletes build their personal brands and provide best-in-class assessment, education, and performance solutions built specifically to prepare the players and program for the future of college athletics.

Every Wake Forest student-athlete has an Opendorse profile which allows staff to share visual media and messages, including photos and videos, directly to the student-athlete that access on demand and publish via a single tap, allowing them to build their personal brands.

About Opendorse

Opendorse, the NIL company, is the leading technology provider in the athlete endorsement industry. More than 75,000 athletes use Opendorse to understand, build, and monetize their name, image, and likeness (NIL) with support from thousands of brands, fans, sponsors, donors and partners including Team USA, PGA TOUR, NFLPA, MLBPA, WNBPA, LPGA, over 100 professional and collegiate sports teams.

And now there's this:

https://www.winstonsalemnilclub.com/

It looks like it's part of a national NIL chain.

It's this company

https://www.chapelhillnilclub.com/

https://www.collegestationnilclub.com/

https://www.eastlansingnilclub.com/

They've done quite a few teams already and every time it was preceded by all players making a tweet like that. In fact, it appears the website for Wake is already active.

"Initial Commitment Rewards:

$25+ monthly: receive free Jessie Bates III jersey
$100+ monthly: get invited to steak dinner with players this fall"

They have a message board and chat function where players could theoretically participate with fans who are paying them directly (and thus might feel entitled to call out their play)? I don’t see any way that could go sideways.

So like Twitter or Instagram?

How do booster organizations such as the Deacon Club plan to fit into all of this? I realize the Deacon Club's charter is not the same as an NIL organization. But, there's only so much $$$ to go around and so many ponds in which to fish for it.

I’ve been wondering this for a long time. Would be so hard to be a fundraiser right now.

Deacon Club will at least keep getting the required donations for the right to buy season tickets. I think this football NIL is really cool. I’m going to sign up for sure.

So it looks like these are our options:

Top Hat - Announced first but doesn’t look like they have much going on; led by a Wake MBA alum

WS NIL - Works with multiple football programs

Deactown - Led by a men’s soccer Deac alum
