ACC Media Days....

It would make sense to have 4 DL, 4 LB, and 5 DB to reflect the most common packages.

Yep. Or just give us one floating position -- maybe we throw a third DE in there, one year a hybrid or nickel, etc.

I mean, the ACC people have bigger fish to fry than changing the preseason All-ACC team ... but it'd be nice. The people who actually take voting seriously wouldn't care about doing a little extra research for an extra spot or two.

Having 2 RBs plus an AP player on offense really is pretty dumb. Pick one or the other. Nobody plays 2 RBs on the field together anymore in the ACC other than a rare package. Should drop the 2nd RB and leave the AP as the wild card RB/WR/TE that didn't make it in the main category.

Defense should also be reorganized to be 2 edge rushers which include 3-4 OLBs, 2 interior defensive lineman, 3 off ball LBs, 2 CBs, 2 safeties and 1 nickel or hybrid/rover/5th DB type.

12 on each side.

Oh, you'll get no argument from me there. Don't forget how many first-round picks/overall NFL picks Dave Doeren has had (3 firsts/26 total) in 9 seasons and he's never had double-digit wins.

Wake has 14 players on NFL contracts with over $32M in career earnings lead by Kyle Wilbur with $10.6M.

State has 20 players on NFL contracts with over $210M in career earnings lead by Jacoby Brissett and Joe Thuney at $38M. That doesn't count Ekwonu who is set to make $5M in the first year of his rookie deal.

So State doesn't have many more players in the NFL than Wake. They are generally better players although two long-term career backup QBs make up about a third of current State players' career earnings.

Wow. That says it all. Our Dave is decidedly better than their Dave.

Jessie Bates is about to take the individual earnings lead if he plays this season. If not, then he definitely does in the following season. He should double the Wake total by the end of his next contract.

For the record, UNC is very similar to State. 20 current players with $204M earnings. The big difference is Robert Quinn has almost $100M in earnings and Trubisky is second with $31M.

NC State's career earnings number increases by $181M if you count Russell Wilson, which is hilarious

at this stage in the program's development, I'm hoping WF gets picked 3rd or worse in the Atlantic pre-season poll, with few individual accolades

we seem to perform better with a collective chip on our shoulder

if we start the season 4-0, which in all likelihood would include our first Top 10 win in 76 years, we will receive plenty of national attention heading into a road game at FSU

LOL. I didn’t even think about adding noted Badger Russell Wilson. That would put State at $391M and almost 2/3 is QBs.

Two of the above referenced large contracts were from the Bears for quarterbacks and both turned into huge, terrible deals = Trubisky from UNC & Glennon from NCST. Just because an NFL executive gave someone a lot of money doesn't mean they were great players. Trubisky's UNC record was 8-5 his last year. I would be surprised if Glennon was any better.

For the life of me, I never understood the NFL's level of interest in Glennon. The guy always appeared very average to me even while at NCSU. Maybe if I researched his college stats, I'd be amazed at what I'd find.

TBF I've been a little surprised by Russell Wilson's success after he threw about 20 balls into the stands at Groves in 2009

Wasn’t that when he had some streak for passes without an interception but it was that he didn’t take any chances whatsoever?

Didn't the Fonz intercept him at Groves in the back of the end zone to win or help win the game? Maybe I'm thinking of another QB.

yes. And he threw two picks on the day in addition to throwing it away a ton

Wilson threw for 275 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. His second quarter interception was the first in 379 pass attempts, ending his NCAA record-setting streak.

^interceptions by Josh Bush (in the second quarter) and Okoro at the goal line to seal it. Smith was in the NFL by then

Sucks we may lose clawson because usc and ucla left the pac. Not because he wasn’t getting resources from the AD

He was a decent enough college QB. I think he was overhyped because his brother was pretty good at VT. He was a major step down from Wilson. He must be a good QB room guy to stick around like he has in the NFL.
