OMG HURRRICANE!!!!!!!111!!!!1

people in atlanta are frantically buying bread and milk

Looks like the residents of Eastern NC will get their monthly bath for free this time.

The storm is really not cooperating with the forecast track. It has moved .3 degrees west since 8am and is still chugging in that direction. It very well may not curve close to what the track says. A "just east of Wilmington" landfall is entirely possible. Who knows.

This thing might not even be a Cat 1 by the time it gets there. I guess everything is going to flood though.

Totally agree. If it comes into NC farther west and then heads over the tidewater region of VA, then it will lose all of its strength and just be a strong rainstorm when it nears the NE.

Just got back from Ocean City, MD. They're evacuating the entire city. Hoping the damage isn't too bad closer to DC.

Not raining in Leland @ the moment...has been on and off since I left the office around 12:30 though. Ran to the bank on lunch and couldn't get back the office because of the traffic on College Rd and Market St.

If New York City floods and then it warms again there is a chance for diseases that haven't been seen in decades to return, typhoid, polio, tb, hemorrhagic fever, Chagas, tularemia, plague, smallpox, zombies, it is that dirty there who knows what else is hiding in the crevices.

Sounds like the basis for an awesomely horrible movie.

That is just stupid, it will probably just be a rain storm by the time it gets there. On the bright side, maybe many of the residents of Staten Island will drive the wrong way into the ocean and never be seen again.

yeah, it does seem a bit much. i think Bloomberg is also still smarting from getting hammered over the blizzard (non) response.

going to be interesting with the transit system shut down and all these people, many of whom don't own cars, supposed to evacuate.

Yea closed the campus of University of Baltimore for the rest of the day and the weekend. Seriously, it might be a Cat 1 by the point it hits MD at the worst. People are freaking out a little bit too much.

Oh and my 85 yo grandmother and 80 yo Great Aunt who live in Wilmington aren't as freaked out as most of the people in this city.
