Asheville Restaurants

My wife and I are to Asheville next month. Any suggestions for good, moderately priced places appreciated.

Just FYI, I decided to merge these so newer suggestions/etc could be posted on this thread as well. But you'll find some other great recs if you read back through this thread too (and I think most of them are all still going strong).

12 Bones just opened a joint down in Arden on Sweeten Creek. Most excellent!

Haha, they've had that location open for at least 4+ years now I think. But it is nice to avoid the crowds at the other one on occasion.

My biggest complaint with 12 bones is the hours. Open for lunch only kinda sucks, and if you want to go on a weekend (when I most often visit) your only option is the Arden location on Saturday.

Well if you don't travel down Sweeten Creek much (as I don't), you wouldn't have know that.

Thanks. Imma check it out if we decide to pull the trigger. My folks went last year and enjoyed it.

Sounds like we've decided on Asheville for President's Day weekend (which unfortunately also falls over Valentine's Day...boo). Still need to book a place to stay, but will be downtown somewhere.

Looks like Curate is pretty booked. Bummer. Will try some others.

I know this is the restaurant thread, but what should we do other than the Biltmore if we've never been to Asheville and are there Friday afternoon/evening until Monday morning? We're more winos than beer folks but would try some local stuff. Places for brunch, lunch, and dinner? After dinner?

I would read this thread and then ask more specific questions if necessary.

You can (should) also check out the Grove Park for spa services and a drink at one of the bars, even if you don't stay there.

Even if Curate is booked, it might be worth it to show up early and try and grab a seat at the bar, have drinks and a couple of plates. Plus you get the vantage point of watching the kitchen, which is kind of exciting in a fast paced environment like that.

I would also suggest this. I've been a couple times and done this, and it's usually not a long wait for 2 for bar seating.

I love a kitchen stool seat, it's true

As I said on the CT, highly recommend checking out Seven Sows...next door to Wicked Weed so could get birs before or after.

Does Asheville have anything besides tapas and breweries? ;)

I mean yeah there's plenty of shopping downtown and little art galleries and stuff too. Not sure you need anything besides food and beers doe.

I'm just kidding. But it does seem like a lot of the top recs are tapas.

Here's what I've gleaned from the thread:

Curate
Limones
Zambra
Table
Bouchon
Tupelo Honey
Sunny Point
Early Girl
White Duck Taco

And Wicked Weed and Jack of the Woods? And LAB isn't as good as leebs thought.

Eating Asheville tour sounds cool though. Way to hit up a bunch of places.
