I'm taking the wife to Atlanta on Saturday to see Wicked. We're staying at the Grand Hyatt in Buckhead and I need a restaurant rec either near the hotel or near the Fox Theatre. Wife is preggo so preferably somewhere that takes reservations. Same deal with brunch on Sunday - ideally would like a place near the hotel that is a good value and where we won't have to wait too long for a table.

Attached pic of newly single Blake Lively to express gratis.

If you want to go old-school, Chops Lobster Bar in Buckhead is awesome but expensive. And right around the corner is Nava, which is upscale Tex-Mex (I bet you've never heard of such a thing). I'd recommend Nava for brunch. Also Atlanta Fish Market in Buckhead is awesome, but I'm not sure if they take reservations. Or if you want a "dining experience", Dante's Down the Hatch is within a block or so of your hotel, and its a very romantic fondue restaurant with live jazz on the weekends.

Also, on your way home, stop by Henri's Bakery for some take-home desserts.

Brunch at Horseradish Grill on Sunday. Drink Bloodies and your preggo wife can drive.

MF Sushi is an excellent, albiet probably overpriced sushi place within walking from the Hyatt. They have all sorts of cooked stuff as well, but prego wife might rule that out.

Bistro Niko is an upscale french place within walking of your hotel.

It is solid and not too pricey. Probably your best bet. You need a rez though. Make one now.

If you would rather try walking from the Fox I would go with Livingston. Also probably a little overpriced but pretty good.

Empire State South is also somewhat near the fox. It is excellent, but probably too late for a rez unless you wanted to do the super early 545 before the show or something. Its also probably 8+ blocks to Fox so wifey might not want to hoof it that far.

Question for my Atlanta friends: whatever happened to Watershed Restaurant in Decatur? A couple of weeks ago I went by and it was closed. They had been featured on the Food Network recently and I thought they still had a good business.

Chops is fine, but Hals, Rathbuns, and Bones are all better. Nava is a mess.

Listen to TwinABen but add Rathbuns as a possible option. Short cab ride from the hotel. Also, Baronda is right across the street and a good (not great) Italian spot. You can hit G Knight Chicken and waffles for brunch.

It closed this summer but is supposedly re-opening in a yet to be announced new location. Net time you are in Decatur, check out Cakes and Ale instead, it's way better than Watershed.

Pregnant women do not eat sushi.

I'll second Livingston. And if you're feeling brave without a reservation, the Baraonda Caffee (Italian) is fantastic.

Will you have a car or cab only?

Will have a car. Would prefer to keep it in the deck unless it's really worth it.

Any good BBQ place for lunch on my way in? Or a greasy spoon (not the Varsity). I'll be coming down 85 South. Bonus points if it's a place that would likely have the Wake game on.

And if you are a playa' and not a puss, the Ritz Carlton Buckhead has an amazing Sunday Brunch (about $60 each before tip, taxes, booze).

Are you a playa?

Uh yeah, duh, maybe you didn't see that I am going to Wicked.

Bucket Shop and/or Dantanna's will have the game on and neither are too far from your hotel. Not really greasy spoons.
