Dear Shaka...

Shaka is Smart.. He will enjoy living the good life and having a fan base that is happy to have wins.. But maybe VCU will be good enough over the years to have raised spoiled brat fans that grew up with VCU in the final four and wonder what happened and start a Shaka-Out dedicated message board.

Just going to point out that since the ACC has expanded to a 16 game schedule, 20 years ago, we have only won less than 5 games 3 times - twice have been by Bzz. The other time? We made a run in the ACC tourney to the Semis.

What generation has not grown up with good Wake Forest basketball?

Since the tourney expanded to 64 teams, we have missed the postseason (NCAA or NIT) 9 times - 4 times with Staak, 1 time with Odom, 1 with Prosser, 1 with Gaudio and 2 with [Redacted].

Everyone wants to see wins - wins are good, winning 5 ACC games in two years is not winning, nor is it good.

Both Shaka and Stevens will get restless being in what are effectively one-bid conferences, where a fluke game in the conference tourney can end their season. Whether one of them ends up at Wake, or the ACC at all, is a different story.

Butler is apparently moving to the A10, so that should be less of a factor at least for Stevens.

Didn't think it was worth its own thread, but maybe fits in the "young coach that would be infinitely better than Bzzz" category - Twitterverse is saying Danny Hurley is going to URI. He seems to be well regarded as an up-and-comer.

There goes another legit target after next season. Rarely does a coach leave after just 1 year.

Why not though? Isn't asses in the seats and tourney appearances/wins most important? Especially being part of the basketball snobbery on Tobacco Road? I feel like even though football dominates the landscape these days, basketball at Wake will always be like football at Clemson. If it is your flagship sport, spend the damn money. Someone like Shaka could really be a pain in the dick for K/Roy, and recruits will go to Wake.

It's fucking infuriating watching your situation. No matter how good of a basketball coach Clemson gets, the success will always be short lived, and he will always be looking to upgrade. Brownell is figuring out now how hard it is to get players to come to Clemson. If you can spend the money on Grobe, why not also spend it to bring in someone like Shaka?

well god dammit, how do you think it makes us feel

that's kind of desperate. The Criminoles can't be real happy with that.
