Big Money Behind Buzz

What is our recruiting ranking for next year?

Lower than 25, I assume. Otherwise [Redacted] would be mentioning it in every damn presser, radio interview, coach's show, etc etc

Not even in top 40, but can't find actual ranking.

These people who are saying next year is the year we make the tournament (I'm talking NCAA, not NIT)- guarantee you a lot of them were saying this was going to be the year. And when it doesn't happen next year they'll say, "We're just one year away. Our guys are going to be really good next year." Meanwhile, look at the recruits schools like Louisville and State are bringing in. They're going to be pretty damn good as well!

these are the people who do things because "thats how we've always done them"

its a failure mentality, but its easy

That's the problem with the "we're getting better" argument. We're getting better but still falling further behind.

Villanova is #33 with two four stars (grades of 86 & 82) according to ESPN. FSU is #35 with two four stars (88 & 80). Oregon is #40 with a four star (84), a three star, and two two stars. So with two three stars according to ESPN (79 & 73), Wake would seem to be lacking behind them some - maybe in the high 40s or low 50s range.

We're still far worse than the worst ACC teams before the decline. Once the league rebounds, we're going to be behind. And that doesn't even get into what happens after the freshman class graduates.

Unacceptable.

we're like a yo yo on a down escalator. it may seem like we're on an upswing every so often, but really we're dying

2013-14 - No CJ, 8 sophomores
2014-15 - No Travis, 8 juniors, Mitchell at PG
2015-16 - 8 seniors, Mitchell at PG
2016-17 - 8 freshmen?

The vast and I mean VAST majority of "big money" donors are absolutely NOT behind Buzz. Several are vocal about it and have written letters. I dont know Sutton at all, but it would be my guess that he would be far from upset if Buzz was replaced after this season. Try to imagine in your heads ANYONE rasing cane if Buzz was fired. Buzz is gone after the season. That can't be anything other than common sense to you guys. Wellman wanted badly for Buzz to turn things around mightily this season for a littany of reasons, but he fell miserably short again. Wellman knows he has no choice. He really does know that the best thing for the program, the school, and also Wellman himself is to change coaches. Believe me, Wellman does NOT think that he himself will look and come out better if he keeps Buzz nor does Wellman consider that to be the priority over the good of the program and school. I realize some opinions of Wellman have faltered, but much of that is from hyperbole. Wellman, like most AD's and the like, simply is in a position where he publicly should and does stand behind his coaches while they are still in their jobs.

Just so we're clear, you're the same poster who guaranteed he was gone after last season too, right?

He is. So I wouldn't put much stock in what he says. Which sucks because it is exactly what we all want to hear.

We call that "The Schwabber"

Our 07-08 team looked poised to move up in the ACC. Went 7-9, had freshmen that looked like potential All-ACC caliber players. Wasn't losing any significant contributors. Had a good class coming in to supplement.

We have none of this. It is just pie in the sky optimism from Bzzzinners to think we are going to make the tournament next year.

To expand on this, isn't there some likelihood that McKie just moves on? I know he was miserable after last season. I see almost zero scoring on this team next year outside of Chase jacking up threes
and Devin Thomas getting put-backs from Chase's threes clanking off the rim.
