Ron Wellman meets the media.

Is half a million bucks real value, rj? That is what the Dino extension cost us. I know you know more than everyone but that came straight from our former CFO.

Stupid to argue about shit that happened three years ago. We're all (99% of us) unified that Bzd needs to be fired. Let's not splinter over things that have happened in the past.

This. I have no clue why DCDeac is doing this whole "I'm BuzzOUT, but I'm being an apologist" deal.

Then we should have let Dino fail and then canned him. Would have given the next coach more flexibility anyway.

Yet another decision that would have put us on better footing than the direction Wellman took.

The thing about Wellman is that when you consider the constant conference restructuring and Wake's relatively small size/fanbase, I wouldn't be surprised if his long term connections with the NCAA and the conference are basically being dangled in front of the BOT as reasons to retain him/not question him.

Of course, what's the fucking point of any of it if our teams are garbage?

This will all be over by this time next year. Suck it up folks.

One more year of hard time. Start putting the slashes on the wall.

Really doubt it. If Ron didn't anticipate Buzz coaching Shelton Mitchell his Freshman year then he would've let him go this season.

I agree. It's like some people have to continue to justify that they were correct at the time by engaging in hypotheticals.

Sadly, I agree with this. There is no bar for next year.

I have never said such a thing. But keep trolling.

In the scheme of things, $500,000 is not that big a deal when our next coach is likely to cost us $15M+.

Pretty simple. There's the faction of this board that believe and repeatedly state that Wellman is a complete moron, a liar, an idiot, that he has dementia, etc. They also call [Redacted] a loser, a total failure at life, a complete joke, etc.

Then I think there's fair criticism that supports the firing of [Redacted] without stooping to that kind of extremist (and ridiculous) noise. Not only do I think it's bullshit, but it also detracts from the legitimate arguments that action should have been taken.

When was the last time there was any accountability in Premier Wellman's athletic department? Why should we expect there to start being any?

I wouldn't be surprised by anything at this point but you think Wellman is going to sit on his hands, take the media shitstorm - and it is going to be a shitstorm - and keep an inept coach in order to retain a top 40 recruit?

There is a legitimate argument that Wellman's decision making has been seriously impaired since his bike accident.

There is also a legitimate argument that [Redacted] is a total failure at life.

OK. I'm missing something here. What is your legitimate argument that Jeff [Redacted] should have been hired as our head coach and that he should be retained for another year?

Yes. What evidence do we have that he would do otherwise? He's all in on Bz.

Is having a fan base that gives a rat's ass of real value to a college basketball program?

Wait, really? I knew the buyout costs just under a million, but was that really half a million more than the previous buy out would have been?

Holy shit. What a terrible misstep by Wellman. His decision making capabilities are fucked.

That was before his bike accident too!

When did I ever argue that he should have been hired or that he should be retained? Pretty much every one of my posts says the exact opposite.

“He wanted to know why he was fired and I told him that it was because of the lack of success in the post-season.” - Ron Wellman

He is absolutely, 100%, a liar.

Add that half million to the half million somebody had to pay to Colorado because we hired Bz a few weeks too late and Wellman just squandered $1M for no reason.
