BBall Recruiting Megathread 3.0 - The Manning era begins: The Harry Giles Chronicles

Did we ever figure out who Jason is in real life? I would love to see what that guy looks like.

Just sayin...many people from the NE think the same thing about people from NC and everywhere else in the south...where are you from?

I am from the midwest, but wouldn't include NC/Virginia in the "deep south education" stereotype.

So, this post on the deaconsports board:

"My son plays on the team with Isaac and commented last night that he wasn't signing. Take it for what it's worth. He had intrest early in FSU, why?, but I think now it might be Duke or Kansas. I thought he might stay in state but with such a opportunity out of state would be incredible. He is a GREAT kid with lots of potential and very bright. He will be a great addition to Wake if he stays true to his commitment. Where ever he chooses I will be a fan of that team for 4 years, or until he moves on."

It wouldn't be Duke. There is a an agreement in the ACC that you don't go after other schools committed bball players.

BBall Recruiting Megathread 3.0 - Mitchell (#73) & Haas (#77) ranked in 2014...

We typically hear about it when Duke or Kansas comes sniffing around guys we're interested in.

Plus, it's plausible that either Duke OR Kansas might be interested on taking a flyer on a big ranked in the 70's, but it would take, I think, a significant rise in stock (one that would not be under the radar) for BOTH to be interested at the last minute.

So yeah I don't trust the deacon sports post.

Is it possible that haas said he wanted more time to visit other schools and Wake said it was a commitment now or never?

That thought makes the most sense of all thoughts thus far. That scenario happens all the time in recruiting.

That doesn't explain the "keep your head up" comment from the uncle though. This is all very strange.

89 & I agree on something. It isn't an ACC team.

Kansas could be a choice. They will lose most of their starting five and don't have any bigs coming in.

But as I said on TOB, I can't remember the last time we lost a player who committed to Wake and didn't have a real problem. Mahktar got us on probation and the Swedes had grades issues and din't come over.

If we lose the top rated big, [Redacted] has gotten a commitment from in five years, he has to go.

If Haas can contribute boards and some D next year, we could be Top 25.

Is it possible that haas said he wanted more time to visit other schools and Wake said it was a commitment now or never?

Maybe, but after his Wake official he canceled his visit to UVA and committed to Wake. That being said, 17 year olds have been known to change their minds frequently.

maybe we have a

situation

The better offers argument just doesn't line up with the facts we have seen. That's the least likely IMO.

I don't know if it's offers. Maybe just indications of interest and a gentle word of caution against signing and eliminating other options.

That being said, academics sounds more logical given the abrupt shift. Just spitballing

Him, his mom and Rondale all tweeted about his presser at this time yesterday. They were all ready to go. Wake balked for some reason and disappointed him and his family but that reason remains to be seen.

I'm guessing he found out that its one steak per player and hes required to eat that one steak with utensils

Bzz probably has some 6'7 195pd center with excellent "potential" to be a WFU character role model who will be content with loosing the right way.

Considering that he is rated pretty much the same as Shelton it makes ZERO sense for Wake to bail on him. Daniel Green is a great kid and had made a lot of improvements before his knee injury but who knows what he'll be like when (if) he comes back from a 2nd knee surgery. Andre is still a project and Cav is a stretch 4. We NEED legitimate rebounding help inside so Devin can play more minutes at the 4.

The silence from everyone around this kid makes me think it's grades. If the staff pulled a dick move then wouldn't someone surrounding him leak that out?
