Devil's advocate: It takes very little effort for Buzz to be able to say "Wait, I get this kid verbaled, and you guys put up billboards calling for my ouster...and you question me when the dirty recruiting that you guys fed, watered and fertilized undercuts him signing?"

It would take a moronic AD to give that line of thought any credence. Oh, wait...

There was a billboard up before the kid ever set foot on campus.

Sounds perfectly reasonable...to unsmart people like Wellman and Bzziners.

LOL at blaming a recruiting failure on someone publicly pointing out facts. As if opposing coaches wouldn't have been able to find those facts and put them in front of a kid without a billboard and website.

As awful as Bz is, I just assume anyone who signs with Wake is signing with the expectation that they will be playing for a different coach by the time they get to campus.

Exactly. And it's really not that hard a sell. It's the ACC, we have playing time at your position to sell, and in the 20 years prior to Buzzdick, Wake made 14 NCAAs, 4 NITs and was ranked #1 2-3 times. And we're not VT or Clemson. If you look at the last 20+ years, after Dick and UNC, Md@Alaska has had the 3rd best program and a natty, and then us and GT. So if I'm a HS kid, want to play in the ACC and Wake is offering immediate p-t, I might not be overly concerned that Buzzdick is on the hotseat, figuring I'll take the chance that any successor isn't some abusive a$$ like Bobby Knight or Thuggy Bear.

Huggy bear abusive? Nonsense:

If Haas doesn't sign with us, the WORST thing [Redacted] can do is sign a scrub just to have a body on the squad. That would be making a very bad situation much worse.

Which means that we know for certain that Buzz will do it.

So let's get prepared for [Redacted] to sign a scrub just to have a body on the squad. He is the Murphy's Law of coaches.

Some unranked, tall project of a center is about to get a 250K surprise!

Whoever we get will make Rondale Watson look like Michael Jordan. However, DemanDeac will tell us how great he looked in a private practice.

Someday someone is going to have to write a book, or at least an extensive article, about this whole era. It just keeps getting worse in new and surprising ways. I hope we will have immense amounts of future success so that one day, far removed from the debacle, we can all look back with a hearty laugh.

Hoping against hope.

Although stressful, I'm blessed to be in this situation.. God gives his hardest battles to his strongest warriors

Really, the only hope that we have at this point means sacrificing our cultural values to take a JuCo (ie KTux) or questionable qualifier from a basketball factory. I posted a list of possible targets on the recruiting thread and, for 99%, we're either not going to be able to land them or they won't be able to qualify. That's what happens when you start recruiting 2014 bigs in Fall 2013.

Would be better to just wait until Spring and see if someone blows up or save the schollie till the next year.

It would even make the readers of Russian novels cry.

No, we are not very close to losing every single game in basketball and football.

I thought my point was clear, but to reiterate, scorched earth is a bad thing to root for. Write letters, make phone calls, design sweet billboards with awesome graphs, but don't cheer for Wake to lose. If scorched earth comes true, we could find ourselves out of the ACC.

#scorchedearth is only about basketball. Don't make up stories, ngarep

Hardest battles? Spoken like a high school kid.

Yeah, I'm guessing we were all pretty self absorbed when we were that age. I just hope that I wasn't as irritating as Dana on Homeland to my family, friends and teachers.
