As none of us know the specifics, I would strongly wager that money was not the deciding factor for Shaka.
Worth it to Wake, yes. But is it worth it to Shaka?
Shit anyone in the winston salem area to hear this guys 6 oclock scoop
I don't have an answer for that. I could spew all the same reasons everyone else has laid out, but you already know them. That isn't really the point. My point was that if we have 3M we should seemingly be able to get Howland, Miller, Mack, etc...Comparing our hiring history shouldn't be an indicator because we were told that money was no object and that we were swinging for the fences presumably to undo the destruction of the last four years. This was not supposed to be a stepping stone hire. I don't think Manning is terrible, but he's not great. We've been set up to expect great. If RW fails to deliver, once again, it's on him.
LOWF is alive and growing.
Farouq is in on the campaign!
If we offered and Shaka thought about it and said thanks but no thanks, it isn't LOWF, but reality.
Holding one's breath and stamping one's feet isn't going to change it either.
Farouq is following any and all Wake fans on twitter!
Dude, seriously; not everyone in the world wants to come to Winston-Salem and spend 4+ years of their lives as students or employees of Wake Forest. It's cool, it happens. It's a school that most of us went to and that all of us love dearly, but just like an article of clothing or a specific plate of food or a city or the color blue--it's not for everyone.
Manning is a midwest guy, he's playing for a Big 10 or Big 12 job. We've got to think that we gave Shaka an onerous contract and they are reworking. Wellman brought in Manning as a stalking horse, gotta keep Shaka honest. You guys need to relax, they've got a lot to work out (who is Smart bringing with him, where does Jeff Battle play in the assistant equation?)
