Is it? we only have 1 scholarship.

Manning will be judged by whether we see Duke game Cav more often and improve and what we see out of Devin in year 3. If he has one elite talent (coaching big men) I'll be happy with the hire. And that should be evident at the end of year one.
 
I'm not sure that's who he is talking about, I just remember seeing it mentioned earlier.

I'm so sick of the Rondale bashing from people who have never seen him play. WF had struck out on 2G prospects for 2 years and a 4 star prospect had just rejected that moron coach of ours while on his official visit. Moron had poisoned things so badly that Haas reneged and Mitchell probably stayed with WF only because of his love for the school and relationship with CP3. Rondale can score and is a good athlete. Give him a chance . I'll bet Manning will .

I've seen Rondale play. He wasn't very impressive, imo. That being said, I hope I'm wrong.
 
Ps. I compared Rondale to Delaney Rudd because of his athleticism and build. Rudd was lightly recruited out of Hollister. I think Tacy discovered him at WFU summer camp. Rudd had a pretty bad freshman year but worked on his skills until he was very good during his last 3 years. Who knows if Rondale will work as hard and develop like Rudd but he had potential. Yes, WF wanted big named players but needed a scorer and got one. I think he was first team all state in WV this year after being second team as a soph and junior. We can't blame Chill for trying to fill a need with a moron head coach handicapping our recruiting
 
Rondale was in fact first team AAA all- state this year in WV.
 
IIRC, Melvin Tabb was a 4 star recruit and didn't make All-State in NC. He was not very good. Some 3 and 4 star recruits can't play dead in a western movie. Rondale can play a little bit .
 
Perhaps I should clarify my comment, as I am not saying Rondale is a bad player, but rather that Childress recruiting an unranked player to Wake Forest leaves a lot to be desired about his recruiting prowess (Bz factor or not). In this digital media age with widespread high school and AAU basketball coverage, it is very difficult for a good player to slip through the cracks. Regardless of whether this specific player proves the scouts wrong in not ranking him, Wake Forest depending on unranked players to make solid contributions is not a sound recruiting strategy to employ regularly.

I really hope that Rondale does prove to be an exception to the "normal" unranked player profile and that he does well at Wake.
 
Recruiting for a coach who the fan base hates, who is over 60 years old and who was slated as being on the hot seat to get fired since the day he was hired is sort of like trying to fly a fighter jet with your knees. For folks to use that as proof someone can't recruit is silly.

Get rid of [Redacted] and get a new coach and the fanbase slips back into the old habits of being delusional and sentimental.

The only reason people want Childress as a coach is that he's one of us.


The only reason people want Rondale is because he is now one of us.


Neither is the best person to do their job or even close.


Are we really going to do this again? The same people who were apologists for Dino and Bz are gearing up again just in case they have to defend mediocrity or flat out failure.
