ACC to try 30-second shot clock, join modern basketball era

Increasing the number of possessions is good for the game. Good for watching and playing. Sports in general, aside from maybe baseball, have passed bobknightfan by, I'm sure he'd admit. Not sure why y'all engage.

I only engage because I long for the day he complains about the length of shorts. That's the unicorn rant I long for.

Bones McKinney took Wake Forest to 5 straight ACCT finals from 1960 thru 1964. In the 51 years since then, WF has been to a grand total of 3 ACCT finals...and the last one of those was 18 years ago. I don't see how anyone can claim that WF has been competetive in the ACC when it has only played in 3 championship games in 51 years.....and none in the last 18 years.

And I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they don't play in an ACCT final in the next 18 years, either. These rules changes certainly aren't going to help them, that's for sure.

You don't see how Wake can say they're competitive when they won a regular season in the past dozen years in a sample size 16 and have been one game away from a one seed once, been ranked the best team in the country twice in the past decade, have sent the top point guard in the game to the league, and before [Redacted] were annual top four competitors in the ACC?

Do you listen to yourself? Do you believe anything you say? Are you senile?

His arguments against it:
1) Bush lied
2) He served in the military, so fuck you twerps
3) patriotism is bad

Oh you don't remember that? The guy that longs for the bygone days of hard working 4-year student-athletes doing things the right way, hates the army-navy game.

Lol you don't remember this?

He ripped on it hard core.

No, I must have missed that rant. And 07, that was my point. To long for the days of 4 year student athletes but hate the Army-Navy game does. not. compute.

It's literally insane (and I doubt townie would even hate on my use of the word literally there)

Did you ever take a stats course? Sample size one. Read about it. Also your argument is a total red herring to this topic. You haven't made a cogent argument yet about the topic of this thread.

Well, I'll let you guys worry about this, because at this point I really don't care if they switch to a 15-second clock.

I'll just say this: I don't think that you will ever see Wake Forest win another ACC basketball championship during the rest of your lives. If the 2004 & 2005 teams with Chris Paul couldn't even win a single game in the ACCT, how do you think WF is ever going to win 4 games in a single tournament? We are so overmatched in this new ACC in a college sports world that is driven by mega-bucks that it isn't even funny. We really have no business in the ACC....and we wouldn't be in it if we were not a charter member. If you have real hopes that this is not the case, you are just setting yourself up for decades of frustration.

WELL GUYS PACK IT IN LETS SHUT DOWN THE BOARDS

We are so overmatched in this ACC, yet 4 years ago we were #1 in the country.

You weren't drafted into the army with a 9-week old son during the Vietnam War. If you had been, you would have a better understanding of where I'm coming from regarding all this glorification of war and the military.

So honoring the military because our president instituted a draft is out forever? It's a damn football game. Get perspective. Even if you're not patriotic or you're an isolationist it has no bearing on a football game between the army and the navy. And even if you hate it don't rant about it on a thread about the game where everyone is excited for it every year you just come across as a bitter old curmudgeon.

BKF, i hope you don't haunt my house when i put a Wake Forest 2042 ACC Championship pennant on your grave. Because that is totally going to happen.

Wake was ranked number one in the nation in 2009 and somehow in 2014 we can't compete. Good logic. What happened between 2009 and 2014 that has drastically changed the landscape?

Spoiler: nothing.

Three years from now (and it might not take that long) the usual suspects on this board will be going thru the same stuff with Manning that they just had with [Redacted].....borne out of the frustration from unfulfilled unrealistic expectations.

Lol. And it all comes out. You just don't understand basketball if you don't see that [Redacted] was a cancer for the program. Period.

Yes! Usual Suspects!

If tournament success is all that matters, Tacy was a pretty average coach.
