Suspensions and Dismissals - Sousa, Gibson, Preble

Great news. They both play in positions where we are currently really strong.

Yeah but they are both 3rd string at best, as was Sousa. Clawson has to open up some scholarships somehow...

Neither of these two guys would make our weak positions any stronger- the joke back in the day:
Good news is Wake has everybody back
Bad news is Wake has everybody back

This takes care of some of that.

BSD article said Preble has been charged with larceny under $1000.

Will the OWG's now start a whisper campaign about Grobe?

Lectro on Gibson.

I look for Domonique Gibson to emerge as the 1st string tailback.

Well, any rep I have comes from calling guys out early. This staff sided up and moved Whitlock from LB to his natural position -- Domonique would have been an outstanding safety. Any Dwarf could can watch the obvious in his film. He has the all important balance-gene and is about 212 pounds of leg strength. This is a kid who breaks tackles. We have missed that. We have seen plenty of speed but precious little bounce and 2nd effort runs. We need this with our line.

Not at all. You will be most impressed by Domonique Gibson.

Dom played so many positions in high school that it hurt his position ranking...

But look, it is saying something when you are ranked among the top 5 Football Athletes in the state of Florida (#4 Ath)

Gibson is checking in at 5'10.5 and 215.

Just to be clear...I like Josh and he has been a real leader in the weight room. I hate it for him. He is certainly not anything like a "cancer". I wish we had him.

As a critique of his style...I have lamented his lack of bounce when defenders hit him...he gets hit with a thud and usually goes down on initial contact. For a guy with his physique you'd think he'd bounce off more tacklers --- I'd hoped that, like Willie Parker (ex hole), Josh would become a tougher inside runner because he does not have enough "glide" to emulate a Tony Dorsett. Josh, when given a clear lane, could score with startling speed. The problem is that at WF you need to be a picker...a guy who can spot small creases, has the ability to break tackles and still have the foot speed to get outside.

I have sworn to the gods of football to keep my fat mouth shut this year...but we do have a guy...and if you want an "aha" moment then enter his name into Hudl and watch a particular play in which this guy literally drags the entire team down the field -- lots of hyperbolic statements in football, no doubt...but you watch his film as a RB and you tell me what you see. ---- I'll see if I can get the link.

*** I am lame and can't embed a YouTube video with instructions on the handle---

Anyway, enter "Domonique Gibson Ath Belle Glades high school" and check out the 3:08 video... The very last 20 seconds if you want to skip the other highlights from his JR season...just the last 20 seconds...

Dom Gibson is helluva prospect -- 5'10.5 and 215 pounds -- he could play multiple positions. I expect him to have an impact on Will. Also, Ryan Janvion has been an ace as a host. Heckuva an athlete in his own right and a guy you could see wearing a headset someday.

Domonique Gibson is another 4 star. His footwork in drills is off the chart. Cat quick kid who claims to be up to 215 on his 5'10 frame. Nicked up a bit in pre season but a great future Deac who is pushing Will Likely to join him.

It is a fact...the more heavily subscribed the info the higher the schools recruits are ranked (final h.s. ranking). That's why Notre Dame is always ranked higher than classes which are equal or better than their own. Lemming and Allen Wallace also provide leverage as long time Golden Domer Homers.

Gibson is a natural. Athlete with great confidence in his ability.

He picked Florida signee and consensus AA Jeff Driskell twice in 7 on 7's...and let Driskell know in a confident but not brash way.

It's strange but we may in fact look back and be glad Harris did not blow up as a Soph. 1 outstanding season will not be enough for Harris. He needs the seasoning. He needs to learn how to play RB.

Orville Reynolds is an interesting compliment to Harris -- has the tools of a back like those we've seen coming out of Oregon/ Oregon State the last few years.

Both of the above backs have the straight-line speed...both need work on body control - the lean and the squaring shoulders to the LOS.

X-Factor in all this is a player named Domonique Gibson. No doubt this guys first destination should be runningback. I understand he wants to be a Safety but he needs to come in and be ready to tote the ball.

^^^ and that observation is reserved for those who previously informed this staff that "Hell Yes, Nikita Whitlock is a college Defensive Tackle!!"

Ideally Gibson becomes a Safety...

Yet, if the current stable does not produce then I'd expect to see this guy thrown into the mix. No fear of contact in this kid and runs hard, breaks tackles and moves the pile. Lateral quicks and great feet and balance...not a burner but fast at 4.5 straight-line --- athletically resembles Gio Bernard.

Got a pm that Domonique Gibson visited UCLA and USC. Not suprising...he is a tremendous looking prospect in my eyes.

Hang on for the recruiting ride... :)

Lectro on Preble. There were others, but I don't want this one to get lost.

Well get ready 'cause you are preparing to see the best collection of young OL ever assembled at WF.

None of the guys coming in next year are going to even sniff a live snap. They are Redshirts. I just like to give them their due.

Hayworth is going to be another motivating force in the weight room...he will bring a mentality similar to Blitch, Preble, and Summers --- the 'Nasty' types on the OL are each dedicated Iron throwers. I expect every weight record to be broken with this group pushing one another...

Target size for 2012

Garrick Williams- cerebral leader of OL who graded at 90+% against the best teams WF played in 2011. Garrick tends to balloon to 320 plus. He needs to target 300 pounds. -- Projects at 6'4-305

Steven Chase -- has absorbed the new size pretty well -- he came in as a 6'7-240 pound ex TE. Chase is ready for another round of strength-mass gain and will be pushed hard by younger guys. RS JR in 2012 and the year coaches pointed to in his recruitment. --- add 15 pounds to 6'7-325

Devin Bolling-- The main concern with Bolling has been powerbase...he has the look of a big DE instead of a Tackle. He is a kid who was given a scholarship as an ath DL/OL and I would not be suprised to see him moved to DL -- as an OT his target is 6'5-310

Colin Summers-- Pro bodied big man just scratching the surface -- continued to grow after H.S. / Summers is an SEC style hog (which WF now has a few!) and goes 6'5 and 325 with a frame that can carry 345. I project him as a RS Soph going 335

Daniel Blitch -- another Weight room junkie with a great frame. Big boy is still working through the baby fat but as he tightens up watch out. At 6'6 and 320 he, like Summers, has room to grow and I'd project a 330 pound target for 2012. Projects as a probable starter in 2012.

Cody Preble-- another young ballplayer who is itching to get on the field. A kid who committed to WF and had some dings his SR year...watched a H.,S. teammate with less ability surge past him in 'reputation'. Though it will remain unspoken it should serve as a point which he, as a competitor, can grind. Preble is a young bull and another with an SEC style body. I look for him back next year @ 6'5-325 and pushing to start.

Antonio Ford -- when you see Antonio you immediately think "prototypical body of NFL Center" -- at 6'3 and 320 as a RS FR., Antonio has room to gain good mass...he has to be careful becauise he is built like one of those kids who can quickly balloon to 350 plus. Think Dennis Godfrey but even more lower body girth-strength potential. 6'3 and 325backing up C and G in 2012.

Dylan Intemann-- yet another big guy and a potential 'utility lineman' similar to Blake Lingruen and Russell Nenon -- except this guy is 310 pounds and not 280-290. Has potential to slide between G-T and is a guy who will push to start. Offers from Paul Johnson and Frank Beamer. Target is 315

Dylan Heartsill-- Was slated as the first OL to play in his class (Blitch,Ford,Summers). Hurt his back. Had what was considered a 100% successful surgery and prognosis. He will need some time. Big kid played at tiny school in Alabama and was not a part of the camp-star-scene. Another great lower body on the 6'5-300 pounder. Look for him to maintain in 2012.

Hunter Goodwin-- as with Intemann at last years Shrine Bowl, Goodwin stepped out as the most consistent OL of the Crab Bowl. Great looking prospect at T. Goodwin tipped @ 6'6 and 290 in 2011 and I'd look for a 10-15 pound mass gain for 2012 - 305

Any truth to the rumor I just heard that Grobe was banging a coed? Seems to be all the talk about the AD this morning...

Well, any rep I have comes from calling guys out early.

The ole' throw a bunch of shit on a wall and eventually some of it will stick routine.
