Chris Paul Controversy

Olds love to take #hottake swings at the Chris Paul pinata. Pretty sure there was just an accusation that CP leaving killed skip. Scorching hot take.

I'm an old. CP3 had his flaws (mainly he gambled a lot and didn't play sound position D, but then again, that whole team didn't play D, so why just blame him), but who the heck can blame him for leaving for the NBA when he was obviously such a special talent? Dude is poetry in motion. And he, Griffin and Jordan are fun to watch.

When CP rolled onto campus in a new M3 with CP3 in the headrests it was pretty obvious he was gone.

I believe it was a 7-series BMW

But yeah, anyone who doesn't like and appreciate what CP3 has done for Wake Forest is an idiot

Could be, its been 10 years at this point and I didn't put it in my diary.

And 100% agree with the second sentence.

BobKnightFan supported the [Redacted] plan.

Let that sink in before you take anything he posts seriously.

The question....as far as it applies to WF's situation....isn't whether Paul should have left after his soph year. I think most people would agree that from a financial viewpoint, Paul made the right decision. The more relevant question is what was the situation between Paul & Skip as to what the plans would be to replace him after he left. You can't tell me that there was no discussion nor any contingency plans discussed regarding how to handle that situation. One of two things had to have happened: Either Paul reneged on an earlier commitment to Skip that he would stay three years, or Skip was completely unprepared to replace him. With a decent PG, that 2005-06 team could have been almost as good as the 2004-05 team. It had two players who had previously made All-ACC teams, as well as solid role players like Strickland, Ellis, Visser & Hale, etc.....yet that team went from 13-3 in the ACC to 3-13 in the ACC. Solid programs just don't go from 13-3 to 3-13 in one year...with a nucleus of two all-conference players plus several other veterans.
You sure put a lot of thought into things you don't care about.

Well, that might be better than people not putting much thought into things that they do claim to care about.

(And I had season tickets for that 2005-06 season...which turned out to be a big mistake. First time back after taking 20 years off to follow Bob Knight's Indiana program. Those 20 years spoiled me, I guess, because I had gotten used to watching disciplined, well-coached teams who knew what they were supposed to be doing on the court and who gave 100% effort for 40 minutes of every game. That 2005-06 shit show was a real eye-opener by contrast. By the time they got to 1-9 in the conference and constantly played like they had no clue and didn't give a damn, I had seen about enough.)

Wait, so you don't have a more direct connection to Bob Knight and Indiana? I just assumed you had some link to Knight and the Hoosiers, like a degree from Indiana or a family member connection. The bolded above makes it sound like you're just a Wal-Mart fan

Ever been to most of Indiana? It isn't urbanized enough for a Walmart.

He's not just a fan. He's a psycho stalker type who has an unhealthy lust for all things Bobby, to the point that he's said he would cheer for a Bobby Knight coached team over his own son. He's not right in the head. I wouldn't be surprised if a restraining order is in place.

Todd Hendley? Didn't he transfer to UNCW or somewhere and never do anything there? Unless I am mis-remembering it is hard to imagine that he would have started for us and that been a good thing.

He did go to UNCW, was a 3-year starter (including one NCAA tourney team). Averaged double figures each year and shot well from 3. Would have been a big help on those teams as a stretch 4 -- not a good rebounder but an an active defender. I remember everyone was pretty bummed when he transferred.

I believe the actual question was whether something that Chris Paul said a week or so ago about female ref was sexist. It had nothing to do with punching Julius Hodge in the testicles, leaving early for the NBA or whether Justin Gray was a good point guard and it certainty had nothing to do with Prosser.

He never misses a chance to rip Skip. All the crap bkf spews you'd think he root for the guy who was 10 times the human being than his made up god.

Skip was never angry enough. Bkf only loves to follow angry white men.

There was no excuse for 05-06. None. People forget, but had Skip lived and had another subpar season, he may well have been fired. People also forget that even though Dino was not ready for prime time, he did a great coaching job his first year. I think he did better than Skip would've done with that team because Dino's first team won with defense, which wasn't exactly Skip's specialty.

Dino did not do a "great coaching job" during any year he was head coach. Come on.

3 NBA players and a season that culminated in losing 5 of their last 6 including a first round ACC tournament exit against a team they swept earlier in the regular season.

I haven't checked on this thread in a long time and I wondered how it kept getting put bttt.

Well done BFK and 83. You are to commended for a masterful troll job, since surely you cannot be serious in your position against Paul. One of the only reasons we have a chance at escaping the [Redacted] curse is because we are the university that Chris Paul attended. We were and are lucky to have him as one of our own.

Cps most recent Facebook post about being snowed in sure caused a lot of controversy too. Guy can't win

You sure put a lot of thought into things you don't care about.

I normally don't see bkf posts unless they're quoted, but that 1 is just great. CP3 prolly tells Skip he's staying for his junior year at the beginning of his sophomore season but then changes his mind at the end after he finds he's going to be a top pick. The travesty of a 19 year old changing his mind when he makes a decision to become a multi-millionaire is almost unfathomable. Oh the humanity of it all.

I get the CPIII hate. I mean, you have a kid who didn't stay all 4 years like he promised. He didn't win a National Championship or even take Wake to a Final Four. He clearly didn't have a real affinity for Wake Forest as evidenced by how distant he's been since leaving the school. He maintains almost no ties to Winston-Salem and is essentially forgotten around here. When we're lucky enough to have an elite recruit interested at Wake he never helps out and recruits are basically oblivious to the fact that he even attended Wake Forest. He's a billionaire thanks to Mother So Dear yet where's the Chris Paul On-Campus Arena? The impact his early exit had on Skip's health is just the icing on the cake. He's a dirty player and a worse human being. His outspoken support for [Redacted] was all just a transparent attempt to make his years at Wake seem more successful than they were by comparison. Wake Forest would be much better off if his true dream had come true and he'd been a Tar Heel - we all lost out when they didn't offer him.
