Video Game Thread - The Last of Us = GOTY

Man, I feel like PS4 finally got an exclusive I'm actually jealous of w/ Bloodborne. So salty that isn't at least coming out for PC. :(

I think it's going to end up on PC. Amazon France or something accidentally put up a listing for it the other day.

no ps4 for me at the moment. just the ps3. did you ever play the dark souls (or demon's) games?

So after playing dota off and on for the past decade I finally decided that it was not fun anymore and uninstalled the game from steam. The community has become too toxic and the mmr I played at was full of pricks. Anyone got any suggestions about games on steam that are not huge time commitments and I could pick up here and there to relieve some stress? I like most game types so I'm open to anything.

Should stick to 5 stacks homie. Out of curiosity what was your MMR?

love those games. it's been hard not too pull the trigger on a ps4. too much going on with work (and family) though.

The Last of Us, GTIV bundle for $399 got me last year. All I have played on it is Shadow of Mordor, which as been fun as hell. I use it for Amazon Prime TV though, so its not totally useless.

Hovered around 3.7k... High enough that everyone knew what they were doing but still in the trenches where people still flamed every game.

Also, I don't know a single person irl that plays dota dating back to the wc3 days. I've tried stacking with folks I meet on there but they always end up being trolls themselves or are not very good so it's frustrating.

Yeah. I have two RL friends who play, one of which played with me back in WC3. We are in super shit tier (I irreparably destroyed my MMR on my main, down to the mid 2ks, and I just got my smurf to lvl 13 where I can play ranked), but the game is so much more enjoyable playing in routine 5 stacks (plus it allows for CM, which is the most balanced mode anyway).

Most of the people I play with at this point are low 3k's, so if you ever want to join some people who are likely much worse than you are, lemme know. I run 3&4 stacks multiple nights a week, could use another player.

Payday 2, if you haven't tried it.

Also, i wouldn't worry one bit about being behind the curve in TF2. That game is the ultimate "nobody cares, so lets just shoot things" type of game; at least from my moderate experience.

On a double note though, Payday 2 is a great way to get used to PC FPS play against some aggressive NPCs

And if anybody gets the Handsome collection and wants to play co-op on PS4 I'd be down (or Hardline... or wants to play Fifa)!

I'll think about it. I just cant justify playing that game for two hours a day (it always end up being at least two games) especially when I realized I wasnt having that much fun anymore.

I finally finished Inquisition and started playing the last piece of DLC I haven't done yet on Origins. I remember really loving Origins and clearly Awakening is just DLC and not representative of the whole game but I felt that the quests in Origins were better. Inquisition felt pretty repetitive in terms of side quests. Go to zone. Collect shards. Close rift portals. Find landmarks. Do a few other small things.

I think the plot was better in Inquisition but it was better executed in Origins. There were several parts in Inquisition where I would finish a main quest, go do a bunch of side quests, and then talk to random people and they would say things about the plot that I had no idea what they were talking about.

Combat was way better in Inquisition too.

im unsure how far along in DA:I but it's gotten a little better. im not sure i'd get another game in the series. I do like the storyline/world building they've done. Definitely an interesting universe. But like loki said, the mission structure is so repeditive. The Royal Ball/assassination mission was a cool shift. Also, it was pretty amusing to get to see some poorly rendered tits in an un-modded game.

I was very surprised when that happened given the previous Dragon Age and Mass Effect games.

So apparently Gamestop is going to start selling retro NES/SNES games. Wonder what that will do to the ebay market, I imagine the demand for such things is going to go wayyyyy up. Will be interesting to see what it does to all the like trade show vendors of that stuff.
