Republicans for POTUS, 2016 Edition

Nobody that makes the posts like you do on your own thread about abortion issues can use that word to complain about others. You utter and complete hypocrite.

Because a view on the death of a child is so comparable to political maneuvering. Makes sense I guess. I call out your condescension and you double down with more. Bold strategy cotton. I could care less about you personally vision. I was making a broad statement that you just happened to illustrate perfectly. Abortion is actually a moral issue. Whether you are a republican or a democrat is not. Yet over and over this board equates morality with political party much like the Fox News tea party crazies they like to laugh at.

Republicans reap what they sow, they had it coming to them, etc.... Is BFK level nonsense and I think you know it. There is no real way to discuss abortion without s certain level of condescension on either side. Look at the thread and you will see it clearly displayed. But this boards continual best down of anything and everything republican really doesn't have a lot to do with that. You are just shifting the issue to take a pot shot.

Oh, and by the way, you're steadfast and non-negotiable hardline views on the abortion issue is part of the reason that the GOP went so crazy and opened itself up to a Trump Presidential run. And why Palin was on the ticket in 2008 and Ryan in 2012.

But really, you complaining about others being condescending is just so rich. I don't need a ruling from Townie. It's not irony. But it damn sure is serendipitous coincidence.

Not my fault. I'm a Progressive Libertarian!

Oh wait. Hahahaha. Trump is popular because of abortion. I have heard it all now. Standing up for the rights of children is the reason we have a guy like trump running for president. Amazing logic. That could be the silliest connection between unrelated points I have ever seen on these boards. Going to have to posrep you for that. Can only assume you are joking because that is just ridiculous.

As Megyn Kelly noted during the debate, 83% of voters are OK with abortion if the life of the mother is in question. GOP has never had a presidential nominee who opposes abortion in all circumstances. Palin may be the only GOP VP nominee who opposed abortion in all cases. Americans can't reach 83% consensus on anything. Why refuse to budge on cases which make up a tiny fraction of the total number of abortions when there is overwhelming opposition to the party platform?

So Trump implied Kelly was asking tough questions because she was on her period? That dude lives in the DGAF zone.

Trump can't fight battles with Fox and Red State at the same time. If he's going to battle the media, MSNBC or even CNN would be far better targets. Women are the second largest voting bloc, behind only Whites. GOP base hates Rove even more than they hate any of the Bushes. Kelly became a hero for crushing Rove. Ridiculous and pointless battle.

Is it? Trump knows he isn't going to win the nomination. He also knows that CNN and MSNBC for the most part won't engage him that way. But Fox and other conservative media? They thrive on that type of conflict, and Trump knows that him vs Fox will keep him in the news for a while and can ultimately be the rallying cry when he moves to run as a 3rd party.

If Trump knows he's not winning the GOP nomination, he also knows he's not winning as an independent either. There isn't a conservative channel that has greater reach than Fox. Trump's ego needs more than just Twitter and Facebook. If Fox and Red State shun him, he's not maximizing his conservative reach.

Could never understand his birther madness since that cut his potential appeal to the masses dramatically. If his appeal now is 5 to 15% nationally and a third party run gives HRC 40 states, what does he have to show for that? A very public loss and a guy who's hated by 95% of the country.

The Republicans usually nominate someone mainstream. Trump is even less mainstream than Bernie Sanders, and Bernie is not very mainstream at all. Trump's following will fade, whether he leaves the Republican fold or not. Nor does anybody care if rinsed blonds are nice to "the Donald" or not.

"he’ll have gotten what he wants from this venture well before the primaries and can cash out before the tide changes."

As the polls start to trend down, he'll play the they're picking on me so I'm going third party card. He'll play that role for a bit, which includes slamming HRC for the Republicans without their feeling the consequences. Then he will back out of the race for the good of the Republicans' chances to win the WH, damage done, ego satisfied, celebrity status increased, and he goes from Dr. Evil to hero.

Not sure which would be worse-Trump personally dictating that press release or some hapless PR flunky who thought this would help diffuse the situation. Trump's campaign makes Herman Cain's operation look like a well-oiled machine.

Interesting to consider to whom that press release was directed. Trump is definitely cultivating the vulgar vote. But the message is mixed. Will the vulgar vote for anyone who can't handle some blond?

His campaign manager just quit. I mean got "fired."

Can the Pubs really ignore Trump's popularity? He's their most popular candidate and an independent run would destroy any chance of a Republican nomination. They are going to have to absolutely destroy his image to salvage this race.

I know that liberals have a reputation for being condescending and thinking they are smarter than everyone else but the state of the current Republican Party just amps that stereotype up to 11. Yes, I think I am smarter than trump supporters (and Cruz supporters , and huckabee supporters, etc.) and yes I know that is condescending.

It's easier for one party to seem condescending when the other party debases itself.
