Virginia Tech vs. Wake Forest Game Thread - 6:30 ESPNU

Thomas and CMM have zero abilities to be leaders. Nothing personal against either, but we can't win until they graduate

Wellman would have never hired a guy like Buzz - personality, energy, motivator etc

How'd Buzz land those transfers at a bottom-of-the-barrel program? It's almost like he has some coaching pedigree to gain a kid's trust.

VT is going to 8-8 after this game. Does anybody doubt Buzz would do the same with our roster?

What I would've done for Buzz Williams, man. Always loved him @ Marquette. Thought Wake was a more desirable job than VT because of our basketball history compared to theirs, but it doesn't seem like Wellman hopped on Buzz wanting to get out of Marquette like VT did.

One thing about the talent that we do have is that it is concentrated in similar-ish skillsets.

This is a great observation. I don't see that changing a whole lot with the 2016 class, either, but we'll see. Lots of redundancy and very little depth in areas that have been shallow for awhile.

For instance, we still don't have an ACC-caliber starting shooting guard. How is that even possible? C.J. Harris was in the class of 2009.

We're really going 2-16 and then probably losing to State at the ACCT. What a shitshow of a season.

Yep, nothing against them, but we need leaders, guys that want the ball and make damn shots in crunch time.

Buzz took over the VT roster the same time as Manning. Weak, lame excuse.

Maybe, but it also looks like Manning's freshman class is better than Buzz's, and next year's is much better too.

Meh. He knows his program and strengths as a recruiter, too. Manning and his staff tried to rebuild with the 2016 class by trying competing for players of a caliber that they really never have recruited before. Buzz has always been a savvy recruiter and known both his and his institution's limitations. That's a pretty big difference, IMO.

We have zero basketball IQ. So many really bad decisions tonight. Wrong people taking the wrong shot. Bad passes and little defense. VT was a much better coached team and played a much smarter game than Wake.

It's not an excuse. It's a statement.

Our coaching right now sucks. But VaTech has a more talented roster.. Tons of athletes and some good shooters

Next years recruiting class is hot garbage, [Redacted] bad.

I'm assuming we lost then? How did Hudson play, he seemed like he was at least showing some potential?

If you take away all of Wake's loses, then Wake really has played like a top 15 team this season.

Buzz inherited far worse in year one at VT than dumbo Danny did in year one at wake. There's no debate. We just got swept by fucking Virginia tech. Please shut down this god forsaken program.

They have several guys who can shoot the ball-- we have none. They have several who can score off the dribble, we have maybe one. They can shoot FTs and we can't. Game set match to VT
