College Bball Thread

Stanford expects more and wants to compete for Final Fours...in spite of their academics.
 
I know a guy they can bring in to clean up their act.

I desperately wanted Dawkins to have some success at Stanford; so, Duke would hire Johnny D when K finally leaves. Dawkins may be a very nice guy, but he is flat out stupid. Guessing that he could be a capable assistant, but he just doesn't have what it takes to be a successful head coach at high-level D-1 program. Guarantee that whomever Stanford hires will have that program at a high level in a short order.

With the exception of Mike Brey (who didn't play for K), most of K's assistants have struggled as head coaches. Will be very interesting to see what happens with that program when K leaves. If I was the AD, I would pay whatever it takes to get Brad Stevens to leave the Celtics to take the Duke job. My guess/hope is that K will make a power play to ensure that one of his former players (prediction: Amaker) gets the job. Not easy succeeding a legend. I don't think anyone from his coaching tree has the gravitas to succeed him.

Feinstein is absolutely convinced that Capel is the heir apparent. When he was promoting his new book on triangle sports radio 2 weeks ago, he kept pushing that line of thought, saying he thought that K thinks the time is right for a black head coach at Duke.
 
It's not like Duke has some long history of excluding black candidates from the head coach job. If K has ever said that, it's code for wanting Dawkins, Capel, or Amaker.

I think it will be Wojo unless he fails spectacularly at Marquette.
