Ex BB Deacs Tracking Thread

Feel great for Daniel Green- that kid deserved something good to happen to him in college basketball!

And to boot he's on target to earn his PhD this spring for as long as he's been eligible.

Maybe part of the WF recruiting pitch can be:

If things don't work here, you will likely reach post-season after transferring.

tyler cavannaugh on espn now for gw vs monmouth

Cavanagh just hit the three that may win the game versus Florida

GW lucky to be playing an away game at home because Florida couldn't play at their place. But they get the win and good for Tyler. Four three pointers and clutch at the free-throw line as well.

He is a good player. Turned into what I hope for Dinos but don't think it's happening.

whats funny is that we then go crazy hoping for a postgrad transfer 1/2 as good as Tyler

A year off to get stronger and work on his shooting was exactly what Cav needed. Perfect timing on his transfer.

Tyler transferring freed up a scholarship for one of Collins, Crawford, and Moore.

Yup. This team wouldn't have made the NCAAT or the NIT with Cav anyway, so we're probably better off in the long-run shifting that scholarship to any one of Collins, Moore, or Crawford.

I thought the narrative was that one of this team's glaring weaknesses was poor shooting?

Cav's been gone for two years - last year as a sit out, transfer, and this as his first year playing at GW. So he would not have cost us any of this year's three freshmen. Most likely Hudson never sets foot on WFU campus.

I believe I would have rather had jr and senior years of Cav than 1 1/2 years of freshman/soph Hudson. Cav left after then end of classes in June 2014. Cav would have given Devin more help rebounding, and he also is a good outside shooter. Dinos wouldn't have been pushed into starting duty. Or, perhaps Cav could have played the three in a big lineup.

It enable Manning to use the scholarship as he wished. He brought in Leonard for one year and then had the free scholarship. Breaking up that 7-person class allowed him to use a scholly on the 2016 class.

DM could have asked Overton or Washington to leave. He thought he could've turned Washington into something and he was wrong. He was also completely wrong about the Dinos, Hudson, and Wilbekin class. It's been a shit sandwich of a class.

He should have kept Cav and/or Moto. They proved that they could and would compete in the league and were trending upward. They would've helped this year.

I would be interested to see what the board's predictions were when DM took over. I'm not so sure people didn't think we had a good chance to make the tournament when CMM and Devin were seniors. It seems like we've been downgrading expectations ever since DM got here.

Went back and looked at the recruiting thread: http://www.ogboards.com/forums/show...e-Harry-Giles-Chronicles?highlight=megathread begun when Manning arrived. There were three planned incoming recruits: Rondale Watson, McClinton and Shelton Mitchell. There was one open spot. Cav, Roundtree, and Moto were still on the roster.

Manning obviously replaced Mitchell with Mitchell Wilbekin, filled the open spot with Leonard, and then had more to do when Cav, Moto and Roundtree left. According to the roster list, there were only 11 schollie players in 14-15 season, including the red shirting Daniel Green. So there was room for Cav. Remember that Trent Van Horn is on schollie for 15-16 because there was no recruited schollie player to use it. So there would have been room for Cav and all the three freshmen brought in this year.
