Democratic Candidates for POTUS, 2016 edition

you have to love Hilary. She doesn't denounce the joke or apologize - nope she just throws DeBlasio under the bus and walks away. lol Hillary Clinton on "CP" flap: "Well, look, it was Mayor de Blasio's skit."

Is the "CPT" thing even a "flap"? I haven't seen or heard a single reference to it anywhere except the last 2 pages of this thread.

Clinton’s dismal approval ratings prompt Dem fears
Hillary Clinton’s favorability ratings are historically low and increasingly a concern for her supporters.

Clinton is now viewed unfavorably by 55 percent of the electorate, according to the HuffPost Pollster average, which tracks findings from 42 different polling outfits. Only 40.2 percent of people view her favorably, according to that average.

If any other candidate had done this, it would be wall to wall negative coverage for a week. I think there tends to be a bias for Clinton in the media.

LIBERAL MEDIA DEFENDING THEIR OWN!!!1111oneone

Imagine if one of the other candidates had done something this blatantly racist- what would the reaction have been? The knives would have been out if Trump or Bernie had done this. But because it's Clinton it gets almost no coverage, no big deal. Think about week after week of the shit Trump has been hammered on- I think this is much more of a scandal. But nothing. I don't know how any fair-minded person can deny there appears to be a bias for Hillary. The upper ranks of the press tend to be made up of establishment types and they see Hillary as one of them- she's the "serious" candidate. It of course doesn't mean she's immune to negative coverage, they have to maintain the appearance of balance after all, or that everyone in the media supports her.

I do agree that if this were Trump there would be a pretty big outrage and a rush from most to "condemn" de Blasio ASAP.

We might not have to imagine it with Trump, because he's pretty likely to say something that inflammatory about once a week. We're due for a flagrantly racist bomb from him.

It's gotten coverage on conservative blogs written by people who probably have never been in a majority black social setting but are eager to brand a man with a black wife, family, and friends as racist for making an innocuous joke commonly made in around black people.

Those same people would be lashing out at the PC liberal media if it was Trump.

what about the faux liberal outrage over media calling Romney's adopted son a token ? Nah you don't remember. Only liberals can be outraged because they know the struggle

Haha. Either no outrage of faux outrage. No alternatives.

Trump has done far worse several times over the course of this campaign.

I think the issue is whether it is innocuous only because de Blasio has an African-American wife, thereby earning him that "privilege"?

One of my former employees (white female) used that term one time when she was late to a meeting and it made me bristle, because I assumed negative connotations... but maybe I am wrong... or does it all depend on the context?

Maybe it's innocuous at a Ph family get together and an uncle shows up typically late, but it is most definitely not innocuous when a group of white people joke about CP Time- there is a definite undercurrent of racism to that term. The only white people who use that term tend to be racists. It plays to the notion of the lazy black man. WTF Ph.

"Colored People Time"- how many white people do you know who refer to black people as "coloreds" that aren't racist?

Did you watch the video? The Hamilton actor objected to his use of the term, which led to Hillary delivering the "cautious politician" punchline. The implication was that it would not have been OK for him to use the term otherwise.
