Official '15-16 NBA Season Thread: THEY WON ONE FOR THE LAND

Steph going iso on Kevin Love at the end of the game, trying repeatedly to get open for a step-back, and then heaving a brick was basically schadenfreude porn for me: https://streamable.com/255w

Meanwhile, the gray-bearded GOAT is out there asserting his dominance in every facet of the game. The REAL MVP.

The FRAUD MVP's line in the 4th Q last night:

1/6 FG
3 points
1 TO
1 foul

That's the good stuff. LIGHT YEAR'S AHEAD.

Steph's a cute little regular season player when the opponent is playing at like 80% just lollygagging through 82 games. Playoffs, meh.

fun game to watch.

hot take incoming

the real mvp is/are draymond's antics*. after the nut shot heard 'round the world, take down of adams followed by pretending to be fouled and hurt by adams, fast forward to the nutshot and swing at love and you have a great big spotlight directed right at how the warriors play. pulling, pushing, flopping, whining, fouling. they no longer got the benefit of those calls and it surprised them. curry never recovered. other than game 7 draymond "moving screen" green was mostly unable to adjust. klay kept them in the series.

*dirty, whiny play

On the bright side, hopefully this means we never have to hear the phrase "northeast ohio" again. Is that even a place? And if it is, who gives a shit about its distinction from the rest of the cesspool known as Ohio? It's one state with one big ass work release program masking itself as a community college masking itself as a university. Nothing else about it is relevant.

And on the brighter side, we all learn yet again that #momentum > #mathletes. #Hothand and #bestplayerwins all day long.

Any team that has James, Irving and Love ought to win assuming that the remainder of the team are NBA caliber players. Steph was exposed in a huge way. I really like him but he is far from the best player in the league. (I know that MVP isn't about that but most seem to think that it is).

2&2 with the correct take on Ohio, I hope this championship helps the fat, depressed, unemployed, midwesterns sleep at night, what's next on the check list for improving their lives?

The best part of the chasedown block is that everyone was SO TIRED. If you watch the full-court video, all of the players look gassed. Then LeBron turns on the afterburners and the rest is history.

Lebron played 46:49 last night. Crazy.

How was that a great series?

I am with Hogie here. I was yelling at the TV all game. Cleveland ran about three offensive plays all game and they cleared out for Lebron in terrible spot and took the ball out of Kyrie's hands at the worst possible time. He was on fire and suddenly it was Lebron with 3 long jumpers. Terrible game, bad basketball. Honestly. I get that teams run out of emotional steam at this point in the season, which is why though I was pulling for the Cavs and against Golden State, I found myself wanting golden state to win. Because they have a coach. Who calls plays not just out of timeouts (but yes out of timeouts).

There was tension and excitement, but it wasn't a great series and it wasn't high quality basketball. Several players played poorly. Officiating was questionable.

Eh, there were some unbelievable plays in that game. Green's 1st half, Irving's repeated drives to the basket, James' steal and then the block were all unbelievable.

The teams were wiped (playing 100 games between October and June will do that to you), but it was a compelling watch.

Compelling, but not to be a Spurs homer, but haven't seen high quality hoops in the Finals that was also compelling to watch since Heat - Spurs II.

Teams being wiped by playing 100 games is true, but true every single year so not an excuse. It is why superstars need a sidekick and why deep teams have gas in the tank in games 80-100.

Old guys used to play 45-48 minutes all the time. Hell Russ averaged over 42 mpg for his career. Wilt averaged over 48 mpg one season.

Adrenaline alone can take you to 46 minutes in a Game 7.
