Bowl projections

Lol, how does the AAC ranked champ end up having to play one of the shittiest bowl-eligible teams out there? They deserve better than that.

No one cares who wins the AAC.

Nothing happened yesterday to change my prediction. Logically you'd think that the Military Bowl would want State over Wake and that State would want the Military Bowl over its other options but both those assumptions are wrong.

They have no one to blame but themselves. Should have had 7 or 8 wins and would be going to a decent bowl.

Yeah 7-5 should've been the worst case after our start, 6-6 was very disappointing. Took what should've been a solid 8-4 regular season and turned into a 6-6 underachieving one.

FWIW we likely would have been dealing with these same bowl possibilities with 8 wins. Wake wasn't going to displace UNC from the Sun Bowl or GT from the Gator. The wins would have been important for the program, but wouldn't have changed the bowl outcome IMO.

Here's hoping for the Independent Bowl as I have a non refundable room booked at one of the casinos (locally referred to as the boats)

Agreed. We'd still be going to whatever bowl we're going to end up at even if we had beat BC and Army, and everyone here would have been pissed.

You could always transfer the reservation to one of the NC State fans on this board.

BTW - How is your Enron stock performing?

Yep. At least it helps that a team with a better record wouldn't have jumped us

UNC I get but Ga Tech? Is the Wreck that much more attractive?

No travel for Temple. They don't have much money in the AAC travel budget so going close to home makes a big difference.

This is such an astoundingly moronic point, it makes me question how you are able to function in society. Give us a number. How many tickets will the Belk Bowl sell to people who are bigger fans of Mark Richt than the UGA team he coached when those same people can attend a bowl game for UGA this year. 6 or 7? 10, at most?

Call it what you want but UGa is a name brand and that is what Charlotte would like from the SEC. Who knows what school they would pick but I doubt the would go with an SEC West school like Auburn or LSU [who are probably getting bigger bowls anyway] when they can go more local like South Carolina or UGa and have some draw [and yes there are folks in Athens and surrounding GA that still love Richt and would come about 4 hours to see them play. Many did not want him to leave. We shall see in a few minutes. We know it won't be Alabama! We know it won't be Clemson from the ACC. Not LSU or FSU. Not Louisville or Florida or Texas A & M. I think Virginia Tech makes perfect sense.

They may take Miami, but it will have nothing to do with trying to draw Georgia fans from four hours away. That notion is patently ridiculous.

It was Mississippi State last year (SEC West) and all signs point it to being Arkansas this year......but other than that, your post made a little sense I guess.

I didn't actually mean Arkansas so I amended. Although I still think the SEC likes to send SEC East teams to Charlotte just like they usually like to send their West teams maybe to Texas, Memphis & Shreveport. But with a ton of their bowls in Florida and the deep South--Sugar, Citrus, Outback, TaxSlayer, Charlotte, Birmingham & Nashville, they have to shake it up a little I am sure. West team Bama is automatically every year in the CFP so that knocks out 1 team. Everybody else moves up a slot. Their league, like the ACC was down so they did not go deep with top ranked teams either so the Top Tier had to take some sloths.

Military Bowl says announcement will come around 4pm.

Georgia was in Charlotte year before last. Turnout was okay, but nothing to write home about. It was cold as shit though. There are a lot of Georgia fans in Charlotte. I think it would be significantly less this year if the Dawgs were to return.

No one is driving up from Athens to watch Richt coach the Canes, but a Miami/Georgia might be intriguing.
