UNC-C basketball game

It will be interesting to see how Moore ends up by the end of this season. He improved a lot during ACC play last year and he still seems to be getting a feel for things. I have high hopes looking at Collins and Dinos this year.

Also, do we have any expectation that this freshmen class will yield a serviceable player other than Childress this season? I don't know if we "need" one but it would be nice if SJM could provide some minutes when we have foul trouble.

By #1 pick I assume you mean first round pick.

I am a huge John Collins fan and I think his development this years will pay huge dividends for him and for us - this is the first big man that Danny can point to with recruits and say, "see - look at Collins, looks at his footwork, that is all me. This was a 3star recruit turned 1st round pick"

All that said, I want to see Collins look this comfortable and this man amongst boys consistently against the ACC before I am ready to annoint him anything. Duncan looked that comfortable against Sheed and everybody else the ACC threw at him. Collins is doing this against inferior competition right now.

Still huge upside for both him and us as he continues to develop.

I sort of get the Blake Griffin reference as I have been really impressed with Collins handles. Again, was Collins 6'8" when he committed and has grown? Or was he just overlooked by everyone except Miami?

He was 6-8 when he committed. I can't fathom how he was only 3-star. I think he went under the radar because he didn't play in a lot of big national tournaments.

He is young for his grade/year. He developed late. Once you get past the early part of your junior year, it's pretty hard to explode up the rankings. If you aren't on the radar, those who rank players are much less likely to find you. He also didn't play at the biggest school.

JC was the perfect storm to be under the radar.

It's way way early, but John Collins is currently the #2 player in the country in KP's offensive efficiency rating; yes that stat rates all 4000+ D1 college basketball players. Collins is #2.

The last two players to lead the country in that category were Frank Kamisky in 2015 and Denzel Valentine in 2016. Collins is a stud. He still has lots to work on, but so glad that he plays for WF.

You are so wrong, so often. It's hard to tell.

Asking honestly: you say this to everyone. Can you actually remember instances of each person being wrong? It seems like you just conflate anyone that disagrees with you into the usual suspects collective.

why do you LIE!?!?!?!?!?

Why worry? If he leaves, it means that he killed it - which also means we likely rose from the ashes of [Redacted]. If he stays, we have an even better JC. Win win.

I just like that rj spent five minutes looking up stats and awards and typing out a post defending Eric Williams' play in the ACC, when everyone remembers that he was quite a good ACC player.

I expect that Collins' efficiency rating will take a major hit in league play when he must play against players that are stronger and larger than he. Nonetheless, that competition will also force him to improve. His natural ability will enable him to hold his own...if he can stay on the court. That will be a huge issue in the ACC. Thus we need for Moore to get more playing time before conference play, IMO. We need him to be able to play extended minutes.

I hope he just cut and pasted it from the official site.

How about Sam Ivy? Rod Griffin? Darius may have had two fouls in warm-up, but he made All-ACC Teams. Eric Williams? Chris King? Devin Thomas? Anthony Teachey? Even Guy Morgan? All of these and more average more than your 5/5 gibberish.

Chris King never got much better after a great freshman year. But he did get us Duncan.

Are you being sarcastic?

If not give me a break. There are many people who disagree with me all the time that have nothing to do with the "usual suspects collective". Clearly you don't understand the concept.

It looks like he was pretty consistent at Wake:

You sometimes come across as hostile and condescending to a number of posters who don't deserve it, who simply disagree with you, but maybe that's just the way Philly people interact with others and it's simply good-natured arguing. I'd like to see a list of the "usual suspects collective". I know you've got me on ignore, so I probably made the list.

First off, I specifically was looking at the center position...Rod Griffin was a stud (the turnaround, fade away jumper was a thing of beauty) but he was a forward. I don't recall Sam Ivy or Chris King playing the 5. Rodney Rogers surely didn't. And yes, we had guys who had good games in ACC games (I am trying to remember if the guy's name was Medlin or something like that, who seemingly doubled his season totals by having a career game vs. UNC their very good center). My comment was based upon the observation for a long time we lacked the big center, but someone would come in that would raise our hopes up. However, the consistency wasn't there and the production dropped off precipitously in ACC play leaving us to hope again for the next recruit.

For reference, Devin averaged 15.1 and 10.1 in 16 ACC games last year.

I'm not sure 17/10 for Collins is off the table, but it's really hard to do in the ACC.

Collins is much better than DT in about every way.
