I have no problem taking a bus up there. It saves a ton of money and I'm not even sure it would have saved a ton of money.
los:
I can't believe folks are calling Wake "bush league" for taking buses to the game. It's not about the cost, it's about the logistics of it all. I talked to Coach Faircloth about this before the game.
It used to be that teams on chartered planes didnt have to go through airport security. Now they have to go through it just like everyone else. So add this time to the time it takes to bus to Greensboro and fly into DCA or Dulles. And yes, it would make more sense to fly to one of those instead of to BWI considering the team stayed in downtown DC for the week.
One steak per recruit. No exceptions.
This reminded me of some of the negative stories and rumors we've heard regarding Wake football the past several years. Remember the story about the coach who wasn't given a Wake t-shirt his first day upon arriving in Winston-Salem? Or the coach that was trying to show a recruit our facilities but was locked out of Deacon Tower and not allowed to have a key to get in? In both of those stories, the coach was Lonnie Galloway, one of the recipients of Elrod's leaks. I believe the phrase is, "makes you wonder..."
Smart not giving Galloway a key. Imagine all of the $1000 trash cans he would have stolen, in addition to the playbook.
Having just made the drive, if you don't stop you can get there between 5-5:30 hours. We stopped twice both ways and got in under 6 hours both times.
My buddy and I saw the deacon carrying his own bag through a neighborhood to get to the game. Tough times are real.
Related note, we need to get new Deacon suits made. The Deacon's face is nasty. Worse than Ron's pizza face
I agree with the need for new deacon suits. I would love if we could figure out a non terrible way to recreate the old school deacon from the statue, but it might scare kids.
Nah, we get more than our fair share of air time because of the current Deacon's look.
Lovely family
You must have hit the holy grail of traffic conditions. The stretch if I95 between Richmond and DC is a damn shit show.

haha my wife said "it looks like the Deacon slept in an alley last night"
