2017 Football Recruiting

Still hoping for some good news out of the visits this week-end. Not too upset about the OLineman, may still get the guy who visited.. just hope we hold on to the guys we have committed.

Based on what I read today it sure sounds like Tre Norwood is heading to Notre Dame or Oklahoma. Very likely Notre Dame.

The recruiting reception is scheduled for 2/1 at 6pm.

Wonder if he would have come here if Elko had stayed.

Just trying to reset the basis for the doom and gloom:

- An SEC school is now going after our Class of 2017 QB recruit (who may be interested because he may have a quicker path to playing time there than at WF)
- After a OL target that had been offered by one other Power V school and 18 non-Power V schools failed to commit after his visit, WF immediately landed another OL recruit that has solid athletic measurables and had offers from 17 non-Power V schools
- A former commit from GA committed to GT over WF.
- After hiring several experienced new coaches, a coach from our current staff left WF to go to Purdue (not clear whether this was a move that was encouraged by WF)

It that it? BFD

This is college football recruiting, and no recruit has signed a commitment letter. WF has flipped its share of commits as well (most recently Ja'Sir Taylor). Let's stop whining. I would be more concerned if no other schools were targeting our recruits.

Jackson coached CB's. Was anybody really happy with our CB play last year? Seems like that was clearly the defense's weak spot. Hemphill and Sawvel both have better track records with DB's, and this will allow us to bring in a LB coach who has more experience with that position group. Given the caliber of Clawson's last two hires, I'm optimistic he can find a solid candidate to fill that role

Re Jackson, our new D.C. is a secondary specialist. You have to imagine something like this was planned.

Raheem Layne sounds like he is leaning towards Indiana or Wake Forest. Iowa, VT and Vandy all have in-homes this week to try to convince him to take one more visit.

Crystal ball for shenker to auburn. Also 247 article says he's likely visiting there this weekend. Don't like our chances. I think at this point, we should just save that scholarship for next year if we don't get him.

Clawson is the fucking real deal this off season. Not sitting on a what could have been season and beating a shitty team in a bowl game. He's making great hires, changing things and moving the ball. He's smart as a whip and hates to lose. I don't give a fuck who comes or who doesn't. This coach is a fucking winner. I don't give a shit about one or two candy assed Prima Donna recruits that want to ride pine for Notre Dame etc. and fuck you too Elko. Our miserable fan base is populated by pussies.

He ought to move Belin back to being the LB coach. Never did understand that move to high school interface role

"Secret official visit" lol does that mean he didn't have the balls to tell Clawson he was wavering?

It's a bummer to see someone get what this late in the game is obviously a "you're our backup choice" offer from a 4-8 program and instantly flip their "commitment" that they've professed for 7 months. I get that he wants to stay close to home though, and Wake already has two slightly more highly ranked QBs on the roster for 3-4 years (Hinton and Newman).
