2016 Panthers Thread: MOVING ON

RG3 released by the Browns, so another rushing QB of Cam's generation bites the dust.

Didn't he already bite the dust?
We can't trust the R-words to accurately demonstrate a quarterback's ability, RG3 needed to get cut by another garbage franchise before we could call him done.

What's the risk? Remember Tiquan Underwood, another former Buccaneers receiver who signed a two-year deal with Carolina in 2014 when the Panthers were retooling to replace Steve Smith? He was supposedly up-and-coming as a receiver, too. The difference here is Shepard can contribute on special teams, and there's always room for players who do that.

The Pats got Cooks and a 4th from the Saints for their 1st and 3rd.

So for their first three picks, they got Cooks, Ealy, a high 3rd and a high 4th.

Unless you rate Cooks particularly highly, this seems like a waste of a 1st and 2nd.

Cooks will produce, but so will the litany of other FAs and low picks they play at WR. That's because of Brady. They gave up a 1st and 2nd when they could have spent those on positions that Brady can't cover, like DB or LB.

I don't think it's a great yield. But they're not always going to have Brady. They may be thinking about the future.

So we lost Ginn and Brown and picked up two guys who have 60 career receptions, combined. I hope we're not finished with the WR corps.

The Saints traded Cooks and picked up Ginn. Woof.

The Bucs lost Shepard and signed DeSean Jackson. Also stand to lose Vince Jackson and Cecil Shorts.
