KP Report @ the Pitt Panthers - Noon Saturday - RSN

thank god he didn’t hero ball at the end. that’s why we won... and good defense

Brandon's forced jump shots late almost cost us but for the majority of the game, he trusted his teammates to make plays by getting them the ball in better situations. what he should have been doing all year.

It's early, but this has to give us reason for hope. I'll take that.

Sarr saves us from shit FT shooting! Hurrah!

Ended up with 72% for the game. Mucius making the first of the one and one after Chaundee's miss was big. Oguama is shooting 83% after making his two crucial ones. I was glad Massoud hit his last two after missing the first one on the bad 3 pt foul but surprised he is only shooting 62% on limited chances.

Agree. I see a little improvement. Non-conference games led me to believe we'd win 0-2 in ACC. Now feels like we may be able to get 6-8.

If Manning is actually going to be fired, nothing short of making the ACC Tournament Final plus an NIT run or straight up making the tournament would change it.
Agreed.
I think this is just wishful thinking. A little improvement would be all it would take to claim the ship is being righted.

If Curry had already made up his mind, why not do it last year?

Because he started in May, and that isn’t a great time to be hiring a basketball coach.

i really hope chaundee is ok

I never saw what happened. just watched the replay of the block play in slo mo and he was trailing the play out of the screen, I ran it back further and saw that he came up a bit gimpy as he got boxed out on the free throw rebound by Pitt. As he stepped out of bounds to turn up court, seemed to grab his left calf or lower leg just a bit and then tried to make it down the floor but never caught up. Was the left his prior foot issue?

Our starting line-up should be:

Childress
Brown
Sarr
Mucius
Massoud

That should actually be a better than average starting line-up, but we would have nothing on the bench.

Better than average for who? That’s not better than average for the ACC I am used to but admit I am mostly checked out now.

Both teams were terrible the last 4 minutes. Good games by White, Johnson and Massoud. Nice block by Sarr. Let's see how we do Wednesday night against Florida State. Getting better.

Getting better but it might be a tough measure against FSU. they are legit with size and speed. leading UL by 10 with 642 to go.

Pitt is terrible. Our defense is actual somewhat passable this year though. Still take god awful shots. Our guys do hustle. With a little offensive identity and coaching we'd actually be ok this year

They were 10-3 coming in with a victory over FSU to start the year. Lost big to 11-1 WVU and #1 at the time UL but played no one else much since.

Our starting line-up should be:

Childress
Brown
Sarr
Mucius
Massoud

That should actually be a better than average starting line-up, but we would have nothing on the bench.

Announcers mentioned that Manning had told to them that Sarr is more comfortable coming off the bench.

I sent the ACC a message about the sorry audio from the game. Told them C.D. Chesley did it better.
No problem with my audio. However, I really loved the Honda ad:

In NC we rally love sports!

And everyone in the commercial is wearing blue or red.

Also not a fan of the split screen with an ad while play is going on.

Disagree, I feel we dd what was needed to win, besides Chaundee's miss of the one and one.

We didn't make a field goal in the last 4 minutes. 0/5 plus a missed front end of a 1 and 1. Luckily Pitt missed everything as well. We played solid defense on the last couple possessions, sure. But good teams make at least a bucket in the last 4 minutes even if you play good defense. Definitely a double choke, especially when you consider our awkward turnovers.

This team would be borderline decent with an actual point guard on the roster. I have found myself wondering what it would look like if the Dosunmu kid had come to Wake instead of going to Illinois, for example. Sarr and Brown have been legit ACC frontcourt players when healthy, and we are getting good contributions from Mucius, Ody, and Massoud. The backcourt is weak, though. Having a real PG that would allow Brandon to slide to the off guard position would be huge.

Chaundee back in a boot so I’m guessing he tweaked that ankle again.

2018 we finished 89 in kenpom.

We are currently 89.

2018 we were 72 in offensive efficiency.

We are currently 72.

We are up on the defensive metrics from 130 to 113. Tempo has increased from 102 to 92.
