2021-22 Men's College Basketball Season - UNC v. Kansas for the Natty

Welp Bill Self has been good against Carolina in the dance. Once more unto the breach

That was awesome. Eat shit, Duke.

Soft down the stretch all year, Banchero nonexistent in the clutch as usual. Impressive tenacity from UNC during 3 or 4 stretches when Duke might have run away with it.

Feels like forever ago Hubert Davis said the best players on the court were Alondes Williams, Jake LaRavia, and Daivien Williamson, and "it wasn't even close".

:(

For that game he was correct…I thought it was a possibly risky strategy to call out his players but they’ve turned it around since then.

If Scheyer can maintain the same level of recruiting and actually coach, Duke is going to be an even bigger problem going forward.

Isn’t there some stat that Wake has beaten UNC every year they’ve won the natty? Or did the last one break that?

I don't know, I'm kinda worried. Kansas has had about as easy a path to the championship game as you could imagine.

This is what I constantly have been saying. K has been nothing special for a long while now. One outright ACC title in 16 years is a horrible track record, given all the talent he's had at his disposal

Except for that loss to Pitt @home. 🤷‍♂️

Duke's entire program is built on NBA guys like Banchero being content with non-star status because K carried enough weight to keep them "in their place."

Scheyer won't come anywhere close to being able to maintain that mystique. He'll benefit from one recruiting class, maybe two, and then it'll all be on him. Duke's recruiting won't fall apart but they'll start missing on the ultra elite guys, and then Scheyer really will have to coach in year 3 when he loses a transfer or two and has a b+ class inbound.

And in that scenario, he's nowhere near ready.

I think this system just doesn’t work. A team full of one and dones doesn’t usually win the championship. Not to mention there is no evidence Scheyer can coach at all.

I’ll add that the Dookies didn’t even seem that upset that they lost. There were teams who lost much earlier on who were devastated. These kids aren’t invested enough and have their eyes on the next prize.

If UNC wins, at this point you just gotta tip your cap. They were lucky to play St Pete’s, but otherwise they beat Baylor, UCLA and Duke. God smiles on them. It disgusts me, but they’ve earned it.
