JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!!!

The goddamned injuries!

I swear to god I got AT LEAST 15 notifications that so and so player will not return to the game because of a concussion or because of a knee injury or because yada-yada-yada.

I think next year we should add return yardage for individual players to at least give some extra players for those that get decimated by injuries.

Wait a second.....we do give points for return yards? At least that's what the settings say I believe....I thought there were 1 or 2 guys that return kicks and punts that don't have any points in the scoring column

Nevermind, I can't read....I thought it said PR and KR yards were the same as receptions, but it's 0.5 pts for every 10 return yards.

Either way, maybe we should adjust that a little....make return yardage worth 1pt per 15 yds...or even 1pt/10yds like rush/rec yds. 🤷‍♂️

Things getting a little tighter than I would like this week. Having a 35 point lead going into MNF is nice, but leaving Taysom "37 points as a TE" Hill on the bench has given me the twitches.

Recap likely coming late tomorrow, work is kicking my ass this week

Note to self: next time Gooner says to start a player, don't start that player.

This is excellent life advice, do not listen to me under any conditions

It's very hard to have any success in a twenty team league when you have to do without your #1, #2 and #6 round draft picks for multiple weeks due to injury before we even get to week six (and also when you completely whiff on your #4 pick - I'm looking at you, Allen Robinson II). With no Tua this week and no starting QB available on the waiver wire, I'm going to have to take a zero at QB. Gonna be a long season.

lol the ESPN outlook for Mariotta says "there's no reason you should be starting him right now."

I always hate putting these together after I have a rough week but this one is just painful. My team sucks. Again. I hate fantasy football.

WEEK 5: Is There Still Time For A Do-Over?

giphy.gif

Five weeks down, a third of the season is in the books, and I hate myself more than ever. Let's just face it, fantasy football is dumb and should not exist. I don't want to live in a world where the Tampa Bay backup TE scores almost more points than my 1st and 2nd round picks combined. I (facetiously) propose that we do a new thing: for anyone whose season has quickly gone down the drain, we have a Refresh League. You may abandon your Pit League team (though still must play it straight for competitive purposes) but you can opt-in to the new league where we pick new teams and try to improve our lots in life. Call it the Pit Fantasy Football Losers League (working title) and if you opt-in, you lose any ability to win or get playoffs in the regular league. YB deserves a second chance, Peach deserves a second chance, Triple deserves a second chance. I probably don't but I run this league and the fake new league so I get to be a part of it regardless. You should be able to try again, that's what America is all about. I won't let the man keep my fantasy football hopes and dreams down.

WEEK 5 WINNERS & LOSERS
WINNERS

Those Who Wait: They say good things come to our first winner this week and Week 5 showed that to be fairly true. It's no surprise that there have been some high-level duds this season compared to average draft position, but Week 5 finally saw some breakout performances from a few of those highly-drafted disappointments. Gabe Davis more than doubled his season-long output in one fell swoop for Edarem, as did Alvin Kamara for Peach (sadly in a loss). Dalvin Cook doubled his season's TD total in one game and eclipsed 20 points for the first time in 2022, and Leonard Fournette went 30+ along with his first rushing TD of the season. While it is tough to project out based on one performance, in a league of this size you can't miss on almost any pick, especially one in the early rounds, and getting those picks on the right track can only spell a turn of fortunes in the right direction. Congratulations to those that had some duds get on the right track this week, hopefully it rubs off on fucking Najee Harris.

Monday Night Football: Speaking of having to wait, the last game of Week 5 had some of the biggest fantasy performances this week as big name players had big time games on Monday. While DEACHAWK/Davante Adams and Mrs. I/O/Patrick Mahomes didn't need the MNF performance to seal their victories, mako rode Travis Kelce to the promised land, overturning a double-digit deficit going into MNF with Kelce's bizarre 7/25/4 receiving line. There are times where MNF could have an impact on and the game ends up sucking, but not this week. Sad shoutout to Mr. I/O who almost got back in his matchup behind Josh Jacobs, sorry that I gave bad advice.

LOSERS

Me: I really suck at fantasy football. I want to make it abundantly clear that I am aware of that fact. But man does it really suck when you actually feel good about your team and think you had a monster draft, only to see pretty much every single one of your players underperform relative to preseason expectations. It's just an absolutely shit feeling to have so much hope and have it torn away in the most brutal way possible. It's honestly kind of impressive that I've gone three straight years now where I didn't just randomly luck into a guy who went off on the season. Mathematically, it shouldn't be possible. But here I am with the 30th overall RB as my 1st round pick, the 25th overall TE that was projected top 5, and a WR corps that falls off bigly after the top guy. I hate that I suck and I hate that I still am going to be back next year ready to draft and be disappointed again. Thank you for letting me rant about it.

YoungBuck: It's that time of week again where we look at just how awful YB's 2022 season is going. Lowlights from this week:

  • Teddy Bridgewater pulled off the field for confusing reasons based on the new concussion protocols the NFL implemented due to the Dolphins' (intentional?) negligence, scoring 0.0 points
  • JK Dobbins being given merely 8 carries and no targets against Cincinnati
  • The Saints going off on offense and Juwan Johnson still only getting 2 targets
  • Jimmy G having a solid week on his bench
  • DEACHAWK going off with a team that drafted one position before YB (15th vs. 16th)
Sorry, YB.

Ph: Ph lost his game this week.

WEEK 6 PREVIEW

Mr. I/O (4-1) vs. DEACHAWK (3-2)

The first of three matchups between winning teams sees top scoring DEACHAWK take on Mr. I/O. After taking his first loss of the season and falling into a division-lead tie with his better half, Mr. I/O will be eager to get back to winning ways and stay within touching distance of Mrs. I/O. He comes up against a formidable DEACHAWK team who is reeling off good week after good week but doesn't have the record to reflect his scoring prowess. Whoever loses this matchup is likely to fall out of the division lead; while there is still plenty of season to be played, tiebreakers are going to come up soon and avoiding those will be important to secure those elusive wildcard spots if the division gets out of reach. This should be good, clean, family fun between these two teams, best of luck to both.

Mrs. I/O (4-1) vs. Lone Wolf (3-2)

A second matchup between winning teams is a Pit League Power Couple scrap between a so-far dominant Mrs. I/O (how the hell did I beat her) and a resurgent Lone Wolf. Mrs. I/O currently own the longest win streak in the league at three straight wins, but will face her toughest test yet of the season in Lone Wolf. For similar reasons to Mr. I/O, Week 6 could be pivotal in how the Kitchin Division is ultimately decided, so while not a must-win, nerves will start to set in if she can't get the victory. Lone Wolf is in maybe an even more tenuous position as the cluttered standings around 3-2/2-3 teams means any slip can mean a long fall down the standings week-to-week. Early projections favor our lupine friend, but it's anyone's game.

SD3 (3-2) vs. mako (3-2)

Two fan favorites make up our final matchup between winning teams this week as three-time podium, one-time champ SD3 takes on our surprise rookie, mako. Both teams are looking to get a handle on the season and stabilize; mako's rollercoaster season has seen him alternate wins and losses each week, while SD3 has followed his strong 3-0 start with back-to-back losses. Whoever can break their pattern here will have a huge momentum boost as we get closer to the midpoint of the season, while the loser will find themselves firmly in the middle of the pack and scrapping hard to stay in playoff contention. Not sure what we will get from this matchup considering the recent volatility of both teams, but I know we will be entertained no matter what.

Ph (2-3) vs. redwing (3-2)

Ph plays redwing this week.

Best of luck to all teams in Week 6, may the odds be ever in your favor!

People who have been neglected and will get their own personal recap soon if I don't pull my head out of my ass:

Barca
Triple
bern
Satan
Ghost
redwing

Apologies to all, I need to do a better job of spreading the love. Maybe the switch in recap style this year has been a dud.

First year but I’m loving it. Especially the ph recaps. Well done goon.
