My holiday party is next Tuesday in NY.

Such a waste of time and money for me to go.
 
I spent one month without reading the boards, away from my friend slack, uninstalled Twitter and TikTok, just tried to unplug.

It started with a dumb argument with a friend that I regretted the next day, and a generalized anxiety about what I logged on and saw, and about how habitual checking a little screen was all day.

The unplugging helped quite a bit, plus the holiday. Hope you lot have been good, some self examination confirmed for me the sense that for whatever reason this remains an important community for me, one I want to check back in with and hear from, and be a part of.

Room Service just accidentally delivered a bottle of champagne to our room for the wrong guest. We told them it wasn’t us and they took it to the right guest but brought us a bottle about 10 minutes later.

We watched it last week, but my kids are 12, 14, and 16, so it was a fun, quick, ironic watch.

Arenal area is fun and pretty easy to get to. Monte Verde is a great town with excellent hikes and birding. Palo Verde National Park is super cool. The beaches up on the Guanacaste coast are great. My favorite place was Bahia Drake and the Águila de Osa Lodge. There is some great snorkeling and a day trip out to Corcovada National Park from there. I highly recommend it but it is remote and takes a day to get there.

Volcan Poas is a good day trip from San Juan but is often closed due to the active eruption and Braulio Carrillo National Park is another day trip option. In that same area is a place called La Paz Water fall park, which is expensive but beautiful.

Do you want my bird list? I’ve seen about 200 species in CR spanning 6 trips.
 
Yay townie’s back!!!

I don’t think I’d be capable of a month away. I wanted to pretend like I was dead after the coffee farm post and I didn’t even have the willpower to stop posting while I was still in Guatemala.
 
I’ve been trying to get my kids into Star Wars forever to no avail and then they walked in today while I was watching andor of all things and got hooked. We’re two episodes into Mando now.
 
How many square miles does the largest landowner in the united states have would you guess?

Our son really like ROTJ which was the first one we showed him. He’s not old enough to grasp the plot so we’ll do a proper intro later.
 
Here I am worried about how to get my kids into Star Trek.

@ImTheCaptain have you watched Prodigy yet? Maybe I’ll just throw on TNG in the background
