Wake Forest 2023 baseball season thread (Deacs end historic season with extra inning loss to LSU: Final record 54-12 and top 4 finish nationally)

So the Bama boards are complaining about the size of our field calling it small etc., but based on what I see online our field is slightly bigger than theirs. Am I missing something?

Wake:

LF-310, LC-370, CF-400, RC-367, RF-300

Bama:

Foul lines: 320 feet Power alleys: 360 feet Center field: 390 feet

and for an additional comparison, here is Florida, which is a bit bigger (although most of the HRs Wake hit are out on any of these dimensions):

LF: 330' (100.6m) LC: 380' (115.8m) CF: 400' (121.9m) RC: 380' (115.8m) RF: 330' (100.6m)

But you didn’t factor in the inward sliding outfield wall when Wake comes to bat! Those are the away team dimensions that you listed….😀

not totally sure, but it seems like some of it is that the wind seems to generally be blowing out most of the time. Not Sure if the set up of Alabama's field makes the wind less of a factor.

The people complaining don’t even know the dimensions of the field beyond 300/310 down the lines (which is very short to be fair)

They just want something to complain about

they started him against freakin Tulane, so I can't imagine he doesn't go in their game 1.
They have thrown him #2 in quite a few series this year. Which is really interesting. I think they did it in both Regional and Super

Omaha field dimensions:

Left Line – 335 ft (102 m) Left Center – 375 ft (114 m) Center Field – 408 ft (124 m) Right Center – 375 ft (114 m) Right Line – 335 ft (102 m)

I was sitting across the aisle from the Alabama section. Surprisingly the thing that seemed to upset them the most was when Wake fans were chanting “SEC! SEC!” at them. One guy started yelling sarcastically over and over how classy Wake fans are, and another old guy said “You guys think you’re so smart, you can come work for me.”

I would’ve expected them to be a whole lot more quick witted and thick skinned after dealing with other SEC fans.
It sounded like Wake fans were chanting "ACC" on TV...was that a mistype or were Wake fans actually chanting SEC at them?

The SEC chant was clearly directed at the Bana section from a smaller group of fans. The ACC chant came later on from throughout the crowd.

Anyone with advice for purchasing tickets for Saturday? Assuming it is best to wait for the schedule to go live? (Anyone with specific details about that as well?)

Didn't realize our foul lines were that close. Were they that close even when it was a minor league park? The rest of the dimensions are pretty normal.

Usually a short foul line will have a bigger wall to compensate, Fenway being an extreme example. Fenway also has the shortest right field line in MLB, but it is so absurdly angled that you rarely see one that wouldn't go out in another ballpark. I think I remember Rich Gedman hitting a cheap HR down the RFL circa 1986.
