Wake Forest 2023 baseball season thread (Deacs end historic season with extra inning loss to LSU: Final record 54-12 and top 4 finish nationally)

He threw 114 pitches on June 2, 66 pitches on June 5, and now 156 pitches on June 11.

That’s over 300 pitches in 10 days, spread over 3 outings. That’s not normal for a college pitcher.
the thing is...there still is no data to indicate this kid is more likely to have an arm injury after this.

no joke, even shit airbnbs are like $500+ a night
Every time I travel I just book Marriott or Hilton hotels using random corporate codes. Done it probably 75 times and nobody ever bats an eyelash or asks for anything beyond the standard ID and credit card at check in. I'm seeing rooms for $95 at hotels within 2 miles of the stadium using my method. If anyone is interested in giving it a shot shoot me a PM.

Do you think MLB front offices have data or medical advice on this that we do not have? Seems damning to me that this is something not one single MLB team would do. If there truly is no data it seems one would err on the side of caution with a college pitcher.

I wonder if they'll do prints of this one (and for anything else that might happen from here on out) like they did for the Orange Bowl year. I have those and prints from the Houston Chronicle for the Astros World Series wins up in my basement home office/gym - would absolutely add to the collection for with this team.

What kind of smack talk was Alabama saying? I have seen references to it, but cannot find the sauce.

If they did have data on it, then some team would be markedly less prone to arm injuries right ? The Rays are notoriously careful with their pitchers and pitch counts. Glasnow and Springs in consecutive years with TJ.

Not saying it was a smart call by the coach...just saying not sure there is anything to definitively say it was irresponsible

I do the same with Marriott and Hilton....but I'm not seeing that at all. I guess we're "borrowing" different codes...

I have heard of teams backing off pitchers who they think have been overworked when it comes to the draft. I am not sure if that is based on data or a hunch. I do not know if it has paid off for those teams. In any event if some teams are concerned then even if there truly is no medical harm it can harm a pitcher’s draft positioning.

So if the Deacs were to run this thing to the title in a best of three series how many days from first game to last could that take?
  • First day of MCWS games: Start Friday, June 16
  • MCWS finals: Saturday-Monday, June 24-26
  • Final championship game: Monday, June 26

I hope someone is filming interviews with these guys for a 30 for 30 style documentary for the ACC Network.

1-0 game for the natty? Little different from today's game. And I LOL'd at the announcers last comment, after showing the one run by Wake to win the game, "Colgate wins"!

I was sitting across the aisle from the Alabama section. Surprisingly the thing that seemed to upset them the most was when Wake fans were chanting “SEC! SEC!” at them. One guy started yelling sarcastically over and over how classy Wake fans are, and another old guy said “You guys think you’re so smart, you can come work for me.”

I would’ve expected them to be a whole lot more quick witted and thick skinned after dealing with other SEC fans.

Here is the link to: day by day schedule in Omaha (note the times on the schedule are CT).

WF will play its first game either at 2 pm (ET) or 7 pm (ET) on Saturday. If WF wins on Saturday, the Deacs will play at 7 pm on Monday (a loss Saturday means WF plays at 2 pm Monday). After that the schedule will depend on whether WF wins or loses; also, there are a ton of thunderstorms in Nebraska in June; so, weather could impact scheduling. If WF wins its bracket, the best two out three final starts on Saturday June 24 at 7 pm.

Thick skinned maybe but quick witted? From dealing with other SEC fans?
