Ended up going to a new Meadery. I love booze and honey, so a win win. Nice little spot.

love Grayson highlands bit SWVA Defs out of the way for this route

first stop is Garden of the Gods in southern Illinois and final destination is Maggie Valley
On that route - you can hit up Gatlinburg/Sevierville/Pigeon Forge and Dollywood (doesnā€™t seem like your thing though)

Tennessee Legend Distillery is in Sevierville and has free tastings. Grab some White Lightning moonshine.

Iā€™d take a small detour (not much of one) and hike up Mt Laconte and stay the night at the lodge (no road access, have to hike - they use alpacas to bring in supplies daily).

any cool areas between St Louis area and Asheville for 24 hours on a road trip? would be southwest Kentucky area, most of central and western Tennessee, and far western NC

looking mostly for small towns, state parks, weird attractions for a road trip through Southern Illinois over to Haywood County -- willing to go a few hours off the most direct route

have done Chattanooga, Nashville, and Knoxville already
I stayed in a lovely cycle hostel in Berea. My good friend went to college there. Canā€™t say thereā€™s a ton on offer in town, but itā€™s really pretty country, nice folks, I ate well.

82 degrees for our neighborhood fall festival today, very cool

Yeah but the lodge has a wicked long waiting list though, right? It is a great hike and night though.

@TimmyClutch are you out on Clawson? Ready for change or just high level frustration but keep Clawson around?
Highly frustrated but fully aware he isnā€™t going anywhere and not sure we could get anyone much better at the moment. However serious questions need to be asked about whether he can adjust schemes now that the RPO/slow mesh is ineffective and whether he can adequately recruit in the NIL era. There are plenty of other schools with fewer resources than Wake who are still doing very well. 10 years in and there is no one to blame but Dave Clawson for this season.

I agree with this.
I think the slow mesh has run its course. Time to adapt and change

Berra is cool! Never stayed there, but thatā€™s along the direct route between Chicago and Haywood County, so have stopped off there a few times.

I hate sports. I fucking hate them. I'm a Jets fan, a Bears fan and a Wake Alum. Sports bring me no joy, only pain.
I still remeber the 1986 Jets playoff game against the Browns and the JEts losing becasue of Gastineau's late hit on Kosar, after the Jets started 10-1 that season. I refused to go to 7th grade after that game. I cried for hours...

Fuck sports

i'm good with it. it takes a REALLY astute eye..but yeah if you have that good for you,

I love creative men's fashion. we need more of it, IMO. I admittedly don't have the balls to do it but i wish i did.
